  • Grand Pacific Questions

I'm bouncing off the walls waiting for my TS to close. Mine is for Grand Pacific Palisades - which I would be happy to use and never trade for the rest of my life. Maybe I would trade it for Hawaii....

    My questions are:

1.) Will I get discount nightly stays either at my home resort or in any of GP's family of resorts?

2.) Do I pay for parking? My room holds 7 guests - can 3 cars park for my own family?

3.) I know I get day use at GPP, but I don't anticipate using that. Can I get day use at other GP resorts? Or, would I need to own a week at each resort? (not going to happen, but looking for info)

4.) What else do I get besides a one week stay annually and day use?

    Hi Presley,

    Guess who?

    1. Yes. Bonus time and/or owner rates are handled through Resortime.com.

    2. I don't know the answer to this. Maybe call GPP and ask about their parking policy/autos per unit.

    3. Day use is not available unless you are an owner and only if your resort offers it.

    4. You can get access to the Grand Pacific Resorts Forum here on TS4M's after you close....and request entry from John.

You can join www.gpxvacations.com just in case you ever want to exchange for another GPR....got some decent Hawaii in there too

Wow! If I can split up my week, I will get so much more out of it.

I am a little surprised that I don't have a choice as far as joining RCI. Although, since the dues for that are part of my annual dues, it makes no difference to me. I knew what the annual dues were when I signed up - just didn't know that $59 of it was for RCI.

I'll try not to have a bad attitude about RCI. I have just gathered over the course of my time on DVC related forums that RCI isn't a very good way to trade. Of course, I may not ever have trade through them anyway.

GPX does not require paying an annual fee. I just used them for my first trade and will be back to them. They are about service and they have some good trades to offer. I was able to book a Point at Poipu in Hawaii. They have an arrangement with Diamond I believe. Nice people
The service at the Grand Pacific Resorts is excellent.

Trading DVC for anything is not a good use of points, especially in RCI but RCI can get you great trades if you own something cheaper.

I never give RCI my DVC points.

As for GP Points I have no experience but I do own HGVC points and will be doing my first GP stay in Marbrisa next month.

If you already have an RCI membership, you can have the $59 charge removed from your MF so you don't pay it twice.

I second the use of GPX as opposed to RCI. While some others have, I have never given RCI my GPP unit. It's too valuable. I don't know if you have fixed summer season or a floating non-summer unit but either way, you get better value via GPX

Yes, I did see the GPX page and it looks like a really great program. Good thing I didn't have my TS already when I was looking at the list today. I would have booked a trip to Kona without consulting my husband.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Philsfan for helping me when I first joined this site and to StressCadet for the idea to check online to see if my Deed was recorded. I see that my deed was recorded on 8/2/11. I went ahead and ordered a copy from the Recorder's office, since the company I purchased from seems to be disorganized.

Philsfan helped me a lot behind the scenes when I was looking at GPP resales. StressCadet has helped me a lot behind the scenes for my WM purchase (which is going through) and when I told her I was getting gray hair from waiting to see if my GPP was going through, she turned me on to the Assessor/recorder site. Not having to wonder/worry is priceless to me.

Thanks everyone on this site for volunteering your time to help others!

                        I feel so inquisitive....

Regarding GPX exchanges - if I deposit a week with them, does that give me a full 2 years to choose a week from them? Do I only pay when I reserve the week that I want to use vs. pay when I make my deposit?

I am trying to figure out what to do with the week that will come for 2011, provided that it is still part of the deal. I could probably use part of it. Maybe I will throw a week long party.

Presley I believe you have 2 weeks after your use week to use an exchange. So it concievably be a 3 year window. Call them They are very helpful. Also if you want you can get on the Grand Pacific Owners Forum on this website also and it may help you too.
