Just another reason for me to dislike the state.

You are right. CA likes to regulate and tax us to death but the climate is mild most of the year. This is why so many people want to live here plus we have a variety of scenery too.

Laguna Beach is another city that charges a city tax to timeshare resorts and hotels as well. They just collect it but it makes exchangers pretty unhappy.

Most cities across the country charge a transient occupancy tax which is considerably higher than the sales tax. The rates are generally higher than 10%. Some cities exempt timeshares and some don't.

People that stay at airport hotels by LAX should realize that El Segundo CA does NOT charge an extra occupancy tax. There are 2 Embassy Suites LAX airport hotels, Embassy Suites LAX North and Embassy Suites LAX South, both right next to the airport. Embassy Suites is in El Segundo and charges the regular sales tax rate of 8% whereas the other one in Los Angeles charges 16% tax.

That is a relief to know you won't be staying here.

It took me awhile to notice this . . . all the fees that owners pay for timeshares are OK and hunky dory, until someone comes along and tacks a little bit of tax on.

                C'mon Man!
