  • Tips for Newport Beach in February?

We're going to Marriott Newport Coast the end of February on an II exchange. My SIL has never been to CA, so this is a birthday gift for her. What should we plan for that week? I expect to spend most of the week doing day trips from there. She wonders about whale watching in February - is that a good time to go? Other must-sees? I don't expect it to top their trip to Alaska this year, but we can try. Thanks

Whale watching is normally good at that time. This trip is rated very highly and it leaves from Dana Point which is a little south of Newport.

The Queen Mary in Long Beach offers different types of tours and meals. http://www.queenmary.com/

Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, etc, are not too far away, either.

You plans will be affected greatly by the weather. February is an iffy month so you could have rain, cool, sunny, etc. February is the wettest month of the year but it also be sunny most of the month.

Is John Wayne SNA the best airport choice for us, including car rental time, etc.? I want to avoid LAX if at all possible.
Thank you for the advice. She's really excited to go there, so I doubt a little rain will bother her.

Yes, that is a good airport choice and an easy drive to the resort. Not sure about rental car pricing, but that could be checked out.
