Ireland's Call, are you looking for Marriott Hotels or resorts? The closest hotel near Palo Alto is in San Mateo or Fremont (other side of the Bay). For Marriott Timeshare resorts, there are a few in Tahoe, Newport Coast and Palm Springs. None are particularly close. Let me know if you need some local info as I live pretty close to Palo Alto.
