They are coming to my favorite venue in NYC but the dates didn't work, so this is perfect. I do love seeing familiar artists in unfamiliar places. DS is working on alternate plans

The Belly Up has very limited seated. So, if you must sit, arrive early.

Go to the right of the stage and up the ramp behind the sound board and there are some elevated tables up there.

The Wild Note is connected to the BUT and has a decent wine selection and food. The Belly Up Tavern is a beer and booze joint. Don't drink the wine or eat BUT food unless you're really smashed.

Great tips, lol. It sounds similar to a few our old grungy venues back home

It looks like the seats up the ramp are now the Loft seats, by reservation/purchase, at least for this show.

Loft seats are up the stairs. They are different than the ones I'm talking about.

The place has been there forever. It's in a row of old Quonset huts. It was a mostly residential neighborhood back in the day. The BUT almost got shut down at one point because the neighbors didn't like all the drunken noise.

Now it's known as the Cedros design district. All the old places have been converted to high end furnishings places. You'll see some fancy homes along the coast that take on the Quonset hut motif of the Belly Up.

I'm taking my wife to New York at the end of the month. It's her first time!

Great time of year to visit. Start a thread and us New Yawkas will help you out if you need any reco's. One of our classic old music venues just lost its main proprietor (also a friend) so I don't know what will happen with the place but it's legendary in the NY music scene and worth a visit just to check out some of the old posters and other things on the wall: http://www.bitterend.com

So many famous acts got their starts there, or at least passed through on their way up.
