  • Worldmark Oceanside help! How is it?

I've got a week at this resort on hold for Oct. I hope it's what we need but can anyone comment about the resort? It's GC but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. How far a drive is it to Laguna Beach and John Wayne airport?

I don't usually see it come up for exchange too often.

I've only seen it from the outside. It looks decent.
Very close to the RR tracks. About an hour to John Wayne and Laguna.. maybe a little less.

    Its at Oceanside Harbor.

There are many others I'd choose before staying here, but if I had to be somewhere in Oct.. I would definetely stay.

Thanks Dave. I just don't want to be too picky on the resort or we won't get matched to anything. We turned down Coronado as that was too far from where we wanted to be. Ideally, we'd like San Clemente/Capistrano area but when do you stop rolling the dice and be satisfied?

Anybody have a crystal ball (like JLB) for socal and give me odds if we'll find something closer to where we want for mid-Oct? or just be content with this?

Looking dreamily into my own crystal ball...as I do watch Laguna Beach. That's where Dear Old Dad hangs his hat so we like to trade in there when we visit.

I think you better grab this while you can and prepare to pay the cancellation fee if something like Laguna Surf or Shores comes up or something in Dana Point.

Back in Feb and March I saw a couple Laguna Shores for October of this year. Your problem is Late-September thru mid-October is probably the very best time to visit the area.

OTOH Laguna Surf is a sister resort thru PSE and I could look into bonus time and costs if you are so inclined.

If this is with RCI, pay the RCi cancellation insurance..
It's like $50 or so and will be applied to another exchage.

It is with RCI but I'm using points and there isn't any cancellation insurance with RCI points. It's all based on when you cancel.

This resort is very clean... it's about 4 or 5 years old now with a modern decor/color scheme. It is a 5 minute walk to a long stretch of beach, and even though it is close to the RR tracks the noise is not obtrusive. Each unit has it's own private patio with bbq... overall I would rate it a solid 8 when compared to an exchange like Aviara/NCV... or a 9 or 10 when compared to most of the other timeshares available in the area. The deal with WM units is that they are very nice, but the ammenities / level of service is not as high as you would get in a "resort-resort".

This is the official information on the resort:

Thanks for the owners link. I think we'll keep the reservation. Is there a particular unit(s) that I should request? How far in advance should I request?

What unit type do you have?

The biggest thing is not to be directly over that horeshoe area where people pull in to park - and not directly over the parking garage itself as the door opening and closing can bother some people. Otherwise, all units are ocean view.

Most owners would tell you that owners receive preference... however, it has been my experience that exchangers often get the best units. So request a higher floor unit to be in the quietest area.

Kim, we have a 1BR unit. How far in advance can I request a specific unit?
