  • California Coast -- surfing lessons??

We are thinking about trying to go to California in June (2nd half) of 2007. My sister and I have boys who will be almost 16 by then. They want to learn how to surf. Any suggestions of where we should try to stay where we can find surf camps? We've never been to California at all -- we trade using II, DAE, and RCI -- but I have a weak trader in RCI -- don't know how well I can do in II either as I haven't been a member very long.

And, if I do have to resort to renting (which I really don't want to do) -- how much should I expect to pay to stay near the beach in California in June?

    Thanks!

There is a surfing academy right accross the street from Carlsbad Seapointe Resort....it is attached to the South Carlsbad State Beach CA State Campground.

You can try for an exchange there or rent.

I am sure there are others....they have them all up and down the coast in San Diego.

Try the Mission Bay Aquatic Center.
      http://www.missionbayaquaticcenter.com/

They teach all water sports. Their Intro to Surfing is a 2 day class. Excellent for thoose on a vacation and want to have two days giving it a go.

You could take a sailing course while your kids surf
