We are going to Las Vegas the first full week of November and want to make a two day, one night trip to Death Valley. Any recommendations on where to go and where to stay? Thanks.

Death Valley
We did Death Valley from LV last year. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive. We did it in 1 day. The scenery is amazing!. If your doing it in 2 days, the closest place to stay is probably Pahrump, NV. You are really out in the middle of nowhere. There was a campground & maybe cabins at the Visitors Center area in Death Valley though.

We're skinflints and did it in a day, easily doable but you'd probably enjoy it more and have more time if you stayed the night. In Death Valley National Park, there is lodging available at the Furnace Creek Inn, the Furnace Creek Ranch and Stovepipe Wells Village. I'd HIGHLY recommend Furnace Creek Inn. We visited there and it was nice. That's also the site for the ranch.... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

We've done part of it in one day from Las Vegas, and on another trip took two days, staying at Furnace Creek Ranch Motel on a 'golf' special that DH found in the newspaper, but we didn't play golf.
The first trip we started from the southern end and worked our way up to the Furnace Creek area. Did some hiking with our son & daughter, saw 'Devil's Golf Course' and a few canyons. Mostly drive through.
On our second trip we started at the North end because that's where Scotties Castle is. That is worth the trip to go through there. Then we headed south and stayed @ Furnace creek. Just take plenty of water!!
