  • Currently at Riviera Beach & Spa Resort - Any questions?

We checked in yesterday to this resort. No problems checking in. We're in the original Phase I building. Everything seems to be in good shape. Looking at the room layouts, I would prefer to stay in Phase II. It's not too busy. Is there anything I should check on for anyone?

You're right the rooms in phase 2 with true ocean views are nicer than phase 1. But, I perfer phase 1 because every room in Phase 1 is ocean front. Some rooms in phase 2 are on the ground floor and therefore don't have views. Some others are on the back side of the resort and look at a big hill.

The oddest thing about phase 1 is that the room layout varys greatly with which room you're assigned. Some 2 bd rooms are ~500 sq. ft and others are >900 sq ft. There is something very wrong when a resort has such massive differences in the size of the 2 bd units.

    PS:
These room problems are why we try to stay only at Riviera Shores. All one bd units have great ocean front views and all are almost exactly the same size.

      Overall Noise?? Train Tracks??

Thanks for writing to us. Hope you're enjoying your stay. Can you tell me about noise levels? One of my husbands big complaints about some of the other sSo Cal beach resorts are the train tracks in the backs of the resorts. Any here? Also, how are overall facilities? Thank you.

You definitely get the noise from the train as the tracks are right across the street on the other side of the PCH. However, we are out of the resort most of the day and don't get back until dinnertime. We have the balcony doors open and the train does go by quite often, generating noise. However, you get used to it. The bedroom (as least in Phase I) is near the entrance so you don't get the noise at night from the train. Perhaps Bill can comment on Phase II and Riviera Shores.

The facilities are very good. We stayed at the Capistrano Surfside Inn this spring (both resorts are side-by-side) and we like the facilities at the Riviera better. There are two pools and 3 hot tubs. There are tanning beds free for use as well as the work out room. The "activity central" is manned with people giving you directions on where to go in the general area and how to get there. They make good recommendations on activities and restaurants.
