  • Terrible fires near Palm Springs

Our news is showing us a terrible fire in the desert near Palm Springs. Structures have burned down but worst of all is that three firemen have been killed in this fire and two are critically injured.

    Emmy,

How awful. My thoughts and prayers are with the poor families of the fallen fire fighters. That is so sad. I hope that the fire is brought under control soon.

    Please, keep us posted.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

      Esperanza Fire

The death toll of firefighters is now 4. Hopefully, there won't be more. That fire is raging, and though we are many miles west of it, yesterday was a yellow day. We could look directly at sun, a relatively small ball of orange, and the smoke was ferocious. It's still very smoky today, but I'm not coughing all the time, as I was yesterday.
It is so sad to think that the fire was set by an arsonist. Jean

Yes, it is very sad as the person, who set the fire, knew how to do it so the fire would rage over a wide area and have it's toll. I hope that they will catch this person and have him up for murder. They should burn him up too like he did to these poor firemen and many wild animals most likely.

The smoke and smog was pretty dense in Laguna Beach and even more so on our way home. You could hardly see the difference between the sky and ocean. My eyes are watering right now as the air is so bad.

I saw the fire burning at night

I'm home in Boca Raton now, but the day after I met Emmy, I drove over to Palm Springs from Carlsbad. It was smokey in Temecula. Highway 79 was closed down and the drive through Temecula and Hemet was completely smoke filled. It was like a dense fog.

To get to Palm Springs, I took highway 74 over the mountain through Idyllwild and through Palm Desert. Amazingly, once I got over the mountain, it was completely clear in Palm Desert and Palm Springs. The winds are obviously blowing in the opposite direction.

I headed back to Hemet at night and drove on the I-10 through Cabazon. It was an AMAZING sight. The mountain was glowing and it literally looked like an active volcano. Unbelievable.

Actually 5 fire fighters lost their lives. It is such a tragedy. Apparently they have arrested the culprit. Hopefully he will be dealt with severely.

The smoke was so bad in the Temecula Valley ( where I live ) on Thursday, Oct. 26th that we were choking. Fortunately it was fine inside the house.
