  • Stallion Springs Resort

I am looking at a possible exchange to the Stallion Springs Resort in Tehachapi , CA. Has anyone ever stayed here? I have looked at the resort's website and it looks interesting.

I would appreciate any information or advice about this resort. TIA

I don't know anything about it, but what a great name! It sounds like a romance novel...I'm picturing Fabio on the cover....

It was about 5 years ago when we were there with our 2 kids which hated it.
The movie studio was bring your tape to put in their VCR. The minitature golf course was all torn up as was the playground. The pool was closed. No horseback riding as advertised. The 2 bedroom unit would have been fine if we weren't so bored. Our 7 day stay ended up in 5 days and that was streching it.

That is my opinion of Stallion Springs on a previous post. If you like to golf it might be fine in the late spring, early fall or summer OTherwise I would find another place to go. I would go up there for a weekend with my wife but taking our son he would get very bored. The elevation is probably about 4500 or 5000 feet there may be a restaurant there still but anything else would be about 20 minutes away and Tehachapi is a small town with not a whole lot going on. We live less than an hour away.

Tehachapi is a small town where we stopped for lunch on our way to Vegas. Did not find anything interesting at this place. Unless the resort is a self-contained "destination resort" where there are restaurants, great pools, water slides, etc. etc. we would have no reason to go there. However, it was tempting to check this place out especially since RCI seems to have a ton of availability here!

I will never, ever forget that resort being brought up as the poster kid for indescrimanant Gold Crowning. The joke was that who ever handed them out there was drunk.

The place is a dive, there is nothing at the "resort" and nothing in the general area.

That is WHY there is almost always availability on RCI. It comes up on my searches every morning like clockwork.

Stay Away from the Peacock Suites too...

We checked out the units at Peacock Suites in Anaheim. It is a dump. The Marriott hotel suites around the corner from this place are so much better!

                  I beg to differ!

I have stayed at Stallion Springs twice and had a great time both times. The units are very spacious and located right on the Horse Thief golf course. The course is very highly rated and fun/challenging to play. There is a lovely pool at the clubhouse available to guests, and there is a hot tub located by the units. There is great hiking and biking all around the resort.

You can explore the Mojave desert, drive to Lake Isabella and to the Giant Sequoias. There is an ostrich farm nearby that has tours that would be fun for kids. The Tehachapi loop is located nearby and would also be fun for kids to watch the trains drive a complete loop coming up the hill.

The Lodge at Windward West is nearby and seems to wax and wane in terms of what it has to offer, I think it has changed hands serveral times and may be losing money. Some people who stay there confuse it with "the Seasons at Stallion Springs" which is the timeshare and completely different.
