How is the weather in Southern California in mid March?

  • #2
I think that it is in the mid 60's in March.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Are you talking coast, inland or desert?

Good point - I was in Palm Springs in late March /early April and it was wonderful. My friend was at Four Seasons Aviara end of March this year and they golfed every day, light jacket in the evening.

          I'll have the "dessert"

We've had good luck at NCV (Newport) in March, but we've also had a week of rain at that time too. YMMV....

I would suggest San Diego (San Diego Zoo and Sea World) or Anaheim (Disneyland).

The weather has been so crazy everywhere lately that it it hard to predict, but as long as you're not thinking about the beach as your only entertainment then San Diego would be fun for your grandson. The ocean water will still be cold, but the beach could be ok for sunning and walking. I know lots of people who drive to Disneyland or Knotts Berry Farm from SD as a day trip so you would have lots of things available to you.

Check out this link gives most major US Cities average high and average low temps and precip. Great tool for all travelers.

I have to agree, the weather is nuts. In mid-Michigan this week we have enjoyed mid 40's etc. It's crazy, I went bike riding today. I am trying very hard to get the X-mas spirit, but no snow, it's hard to do. It feels like October, but instead we are trimming the tree. We are hoping to head to up-north (northern Mi) for skiing over x-mas, but not sure that is going to happen.

Well we had our first real days of winter here in So. Cal the last couple of days. Some rain yesterday....snow in our local mountains....highs in the high 50's to low 60's and lows in the mid 30's.

Most of last week were highs in the mid 70's. It is clearing up now...still cold...but So. Cal is at its most scenic beauty after our 'winter' storms clean everything up, it is clear, and while you are at the beach you can see the snow in the mountains.

How is Palm Springs for Children? How is the drive to Disney Land, Lego Land, etc.?

It wouldn't be my first choice. I don't think there is much there for kids to do. There is a water park and they may enjoy the tram ride up the mountain, but I can't think of much else that's there. Drive to Disneyland, Legoland, etc., not fun for a day trip.

                              Per mapquest:
Palm Springs to Disneyland, 92 miles, 1 1/2 hours
Palm Springs to Legoland, 103 miles, 2 hours
(And these times are without traffic slow downs)
