  • suggestions on Tahoe Beach & Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe?

    Hi everyone!

I'll be going to Lake Tahoe this June for my birthday (can't wait by the way) and am considering the Tahoe Beach & Ski Resort.

We'll definitely be staying in either the 1 bd suite or townhouse.

Any suggestions on if these rooms are nice or not? They look very nice in the virtual tour but if anyone's been there recently, please let me know.

Also, does anyone know if any of the rooms have a lake view and which ones?

I know the physical look of the resort older but as long as the rooms are in nice condition, I won't complain.

    Thank you very much!

Hi Shellie and welcome to timeshareforums. Happy Birthday in advance.

You want to be in the units closest to the lake and on the beach if possible in the Baldwin Hill Building. I think it is units 5101, 5101A, 5100 that are right on the beach. The townhouses are 5103, 5, 7, and 9 and were acceptable as well. These are not easy to get because all the owners want those as well and the resort takes specific unit requests well in advance for owners. Only the lower floors in the units right on the beach otherwise the higher floors in the same building. You may have a shot at the better units in June because the busy season has not started yet. Call ahead and do what you can to get a good unit.

We were there in summer three years ago and had two 1BR units (RCI rentals) 1st floor near the entrance to that building and we did not like them at all as we had minimal lake view, a parking lot next to the units as well as the luggage ramp which made for noise at all times of the day and night as people came and went. The units are cramped and do not have AC so during the summer one must have the windows open to cool the units and the noise can be bad. We did not like the resort and will never go back. We were given an off-season ownership there with another resale purchase but sold it as we do not want to own there.

Sorry for the delayed reply...I just noticed your post. I know other people love the place but it was one of our worst timeshare experiences.

Stayed there in Oct. and loved it-just bought EOY too!

I stayed in a 1 bedroom 2 bath unit with my 3 kids in Oct. We loved it. The kitchen is TINY and only a partial kitchen-micro, toaster oven, blender, bar sized fridge. (I knew partial kitchen going in.) Units had been recently updated...but-they chose an 80ish brown tile for the bathrooms. Whirlpool tub in master. Other bathroom is 3/4. Our unit overlooked grassy area. BBQ's throughout complex-but the old kind-charcoal (not gas), decent/good playground (kids liked), at least 2 jacuzzis on property, tennis court, sand volleyball pit, and decent activities room. Gym small and so-so looking. The BEST THING IS THE BEACH... Wide and deep sandy stretch. (I have to admit it was great having beautiful views on the beach with water so freezing cold my kids weren't going to go in the water very far. I could actually relax!) Right next to Tahoe Queen landing. Shops easy walk. Also, one of my motives for buying an OEY even was that I own and OEY odd next door at the Embassy (now Sunterra) Lake Tahoe Resort and the Tahoe Beach and Ski has day use privaliges.) There are not many resorts with a nice sandy beach-enjoy it!

        Never stayed

We never booked but checked out the units a few years ago and they are tiny compared to most timeshares. My family would be to cramped.

I'm a previous owner of a 1 bedroom Deluxe but enjoyed staying in the townhouse units now and then. Unique with the spiral stairs and two great bathrooms.
As mentioned the Baldwin building is the one next to the beach and by the pool.
I'm considering buying TBSC again, but had to divest myself of one of my timeshares last year and it sold the quickest.
Like another poster I also own Sunterra's LTRV (the former Embassy) so the day-use at TBSC was an added positive when I stayed next door.
Someone complained about the rooms being small, but like being on a cruise, it's a place to hang your hat when there is so much beauty surrounding you, many great things to do, places to visit and sights to see. (the rooms are MUCH larger than cabins on a cruise ship, even the double-suite we had on HAL Zuiderdam.)
Enjoy Tahoe, Most any time of year is fantastic, so June should be exceptional.
