La Jolla/San Diego - dining recommendations

Will be stying in La Jolla May 4 - 8. Looking for restaurant recommendations. Favorites are Italian and Mexican. Already have a reservation at George's Ocean Terrace (think I found that recommendation here ).

        El Cotixan

If you feel like figuring out directions and driving...El Cotixan is amazing Mexican food...I highly recommend the potato tacos and a girlfriend of mine recommends the potato burrito. Inexpensive, and fantastic authentic mexican food. I believe the one we go to is located on Genesee. But, well worth any kind of drive. Yummmmm.

                  Experience?????

Well, let's see. Most of the time we ate in La Jolla. Enjoyed Sammy's Woodfire Pizza and La Dolce Vita. Ate at a nice Italian restaurant in San Diego in Little Italy (Trattoris Fantastica). Dh said that was was only okay in his opinion. We were going to eat at George's Ocean Terrace, but when we checked out their menu it was way more than we wanted to spend and nothing really sounded appealing.

                    Tip Top Meats
6118 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92008

European Deli nearby the Grand Pacific Palisades off Palomar Airport Road. Good place, good food, very reasonable prices. Extensive menu and very large deli. Order at the counter then go find a seat inside or outside. I ordered the prime rib meal which includes a good tender slice of prime rib, mashed potatoes, vegies, salad and dinner roll....only $10.

They seem to have every Samuel Smiths brew there is....that alone is worth the visit.

I just added a link to the first post on this thread. It includes many SD area attractions and restaurants. SCC is located in south Orange County near the San Diego County Border:

I live 30 min. south of San Diego in Rosarito Beach, Mexico. If you want views like mine with a Mexican flavor, let me know, and I'll give advice on how to visit and have a great time.

Sounds great. Start some new relevant threads. Probably belongs in the Mexico forum unless we want to make it North Baja 'California' angle close to San Diego.....
