  • Best Palm Springs Resort for kids under 6?

We are considering going to Palm Springs (or Phoenix) over a break dd will have in October and wondered which Palm Springs resort of the ones below would be best for her age? Do they have activities on site for kids in the fall? We also will have an 18 month old who will be happy just to swim.

    Westin Mission Hills
    Marriott Shadow Ridge
    Marriott Desert Springs

    Thanks!

I'm told that the Westin and Marriotts are great resorts but IMHO, the best pool is at Monarch Grand's Palm Canyon. It also trades in II. The units themselves are clean and nice but on the plain side. But the pool is very cool.

We've only stayed at the Shadow Ridge, but my kids (ages 4, 2, 9mos) loved the pool area. There are two large inifinity pools in the center of the complex, along with a small toddler pool, and another with a small slide. There is also a children's fountain/spray type play area to round out the water activities. Also nearby is the MAZE activity center and a small jungle gym. We went in early December last year when the resort was pretty quiet, but there were always at least 2 staff members available for kids activities.

If you want to leave the resort, the Children's Discovery Museum Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert is less than 2 miles down the road.

Thank you! Last night I grabbed a week at Shadow Ridge in a 2BR using my AC, so it sounds great! My Dad is meeting us and he's a golf nut, and we are looking forward to enjoying the resort, shopping, the outdoor attractions, etc.

Does anyone know if Marriott usually does anything for kids on Halloween? We are debating whether we should leave early and come home or do the Halloween thing in Palm Springs, which I think could be fun if Marriott has something.

Also, what types of activities/crafts do they have during the day for kids? DD will be 5, almost 6 when we go.

        TIA!

A golf-nut will love this resort, it is a very pretty course. Marriott owners or Palm Springs experts may have to chime in regarding special Halloween events.

The activity center usually had lots of arts/craft type projects set up throughout the day, as well as games/toys. My 4 yr old had a blast with the free tatoos, no one escaped without at least 3-4, including the baby. You should be provided a list of the activities for the week when checking in, or it will be posted right outside the elevator of each complex daily.

Tattoos - how funny! I'm sure dd5 will be putting some on our baby too! It sounds like they have tons of activities for kids, which is a nice way to break up pool time. Thanks!
