Tournament of Roses Parade/Rose Bowl Game.

My wife and I have booked the official Tournament of Roses Parade/Rose Bowl Game Package tour for this year. It is a 5 day package tour with 4 nights at the Westin Hotel in Pasadena plus parade and game tickets and many special events. This is something we have wanted to do for many years.

Has anybody done this tour before that could share some info on it or suggestions.

We have thought of the many ways to do this...like camping out....RV...and the package you booked sounds like just about the right way to do it. We have yet to do it and we want to. Let us know how it goes and maybe we will do it next year...depending on where we book our vacations.

Can you tell me where to get more information regarding reserving seats in the grandstands along the parade route? Are they only available with a hotel package? If you wouldn't mind sharing where you booked your package, it would be much appreciated. I have heard seeing the parade floats and flowers in person is unbelievable.

I know the method we used for our Rose Bowl trip is a little different from what you are planning, but I thought I'd share a few of the high points from our trip in 2003. My team was participating in the Rose Bowl, so we bought an old motor home a couple weeks prior to the trip (when I say "old", I'm talking vintage 1979 and a price tag of $3,000! Ran great, by the way). We stayed on the grounds at the Rose Bowl. I think parking was about $100 for the duration. We were on the golf course and there were no hookups of any kind. Mingling with all of the other fans was great.

One of the highlights of the trip was getting to see the floats being constructed on site; they were in the finishing stages when we arrived in the evening. Several of the float builders gave us a few of their extra flowers. We got to watch them pull all of the floats up the street with 4x4s to where they were going to start the parade the following morning. There were no admission charges for any of this.
