  • Riviera Beach and Spa Resort I and II--Anyone been there?

We are staying at the Riviera Beach and Spa Resort I and II for the week starting Jan. 26, 2008. Our 2nd week (Feb 3, 2008) will be at the Villa L'Auberge in Del Mar, CA.

Does Anyone have any information on the Resorts and/or what to do or see within 1 1/2 hours of these Resorts?

    Walt

    Walt Great trades!

Do you need info for grown ups or for family? Have you ever stayed in SCal before? What are your interests?

Walt, see my review of the resort here (http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...eview&review=1). We own here so you can ask away. Are you staying in Phase I or II? Do you have a 1BR or 2BR? Oceanview or non-oceanview?

I am not familiar with the resorts but I do know Southern California. Not only do we live here but we frequently play tourist, especially in San Diego. You need to be more specific on what you like to do as there are countless things to see and do within 1 1/2 hours from Del Mar.

You can get started by visiting the web site below. It only scratches the surface in the San Diego Area. You also need to check out Orange County.

Go San Diego Card, San Diego California Tourism, San Diego City Tours, San Diego Sightseeing Pass

We will have our 2 sons and their families staying with us the week of Jan. 26. 5 kids under 5 1/2 years old. We will have 3 units. One unit for each family. So both grown ups and family things to do. We are open to anything.

            We have 3 units reserved.

1 unit is at Riviera Beach and Spa Resort Phase II • RBS.

2nd unit is Riviera Shores Resort • RSR.

3rd unit is Riviera Beach and Spa Resort • RBC.

There are all 1 bedroom units.

I would like to get a 2 bedroom for my one son family instead of the 1 bedroom because they have twins that are 20 months old. Do you have any ideas? Are there 2 bedroom rentals available?

Walt the usual suspects are within reach from either resort, although Delmar is the closer for the San Diego locations.

              Can you say?

              Legoland
              Sea World
              San Diego Zoo

All big hits for our little guy when he was a little guy.

All the 1BRs are oceanview. Phase II is the newer building with a slightly more usable layout. You can go to the resort site ( Monarch Grand Vacations) and see the layouts of the units.

You should be able to get 2BR units for everyone if you want to. I just checked on II and there are 2BRs availability in both phases for both a Jan 26 check-in and Jan 27 check-in. I include the 27th check-in because you mention in your original post that you check-in to your second week on the Feb 3. As it currently stands, you need to find one additional night's accommodations. I forgot to mention that you will not be able to tell if those 2BRs in II are ocean-view or non-oceanview as the Beach and Spa has both. The non-oceanview is looking out at the hill of black dirt, but it's very quiet on that side (vs. Amtrack noise of train on the ocean view side).

You should be able to pick up those 2BRs on II because it is offseason at that time. Depending on what you used to trade for those weeks, it may be less expensive to pay the additional exchange fee as opposed to going the rental route.

I am seeing these 2 bd rooms with my 1 bd deposits.

But MGV does sometimes rent their rooms but only very last minute thing.

Lastly, I'd call now and also about 2 weeks before and see if you can't get all the rooms in the same bld. currently you have 1 room in each of the 3 bld. Yes, they are all right next to each other but you'd be happer if they were all in the same bld.

Also, the 2 bd units will often not have anykind of view where all the 1 bds have a nice view. We often squezze into a 1bd instead of a 2 bd just so we can have the view.

DH will be staying here in a 1 BDRM unit courtesy TPI Last Minute Exchange in November this year. He is not reliable for camera work but knows what he likes and doesn't like.

I'll let you know what he says.
