Got back late last night after spending a week at Laguna Surf and 3 days at the Tamarack Beach resort in Carlsbad. I'll do up a review of both in this next week.
I spent a day in Calsbad visiting a number of the resorts, Grand Pacific Palisades, Carlsbad Seapointe and the Calsbad Inn. We own at the Calsbad Seapointe although I had never been there until last week. I got pics as well as detailed layouts of the resort and of the unit layouts. I spent some time talking to the onsight husband/wife sales reps at the Seapointe. That's the way a rep should be. I got a ton of good info and a 3 min info spiel on what it would cost me to upgrade if I wanted to. Totally low key.
I wandered through the GPP by myself as noone could take me around. I was given the pass codes to get into the pool areas, etc. I couldn't go on the tour of the Maribosa resort because DH wasn't with me (and wouldn't go if she was) so I can't comment about that.
All in all, I would consider buying at the Tamarack. Great location across the street from the beach (better than the Calsbad Inn in my mind), large units and friendly staff. I spent some time with the onsite sales person there as well and picked up a bunch of info. I got pics of the resort as well.
