  • Mountains, Desert and Ocean I may get to see it all?

Trading Places came thru with a Lagonita Lodge check-in Fri June 27th.

I have a Laguna Surf for Monday July 7th check-in.

We need a place to stay July 4th, 5th and 6th. Because it is a holiday weekend I expect most hotels/areas to be either booked or horribly overpriced.

One of the options I am currently exploring is getting use time at Desert Breezes, Palm Desert where I own. I KNOW it will be ridiculosly hot there but we will do the tram and stay in the pools for the most part.

Does anyone see any logistic issues? Is there something/somewhere else I should think about for those 3 nights?

I can get you a 1 or 2 BR at WM Big Bear or Solvang if you are interested. PM me.

I wouldn't stay in Palm Springs during the summer by choice. Between these two, I'd take Solvang. It would be a nice change.

If you stay at a hotel that mostly caters to business travelers you could get some great rates at that time. For example, a few years back I got the Sheraton Four Points in San Ramon, CA on a Sunday night for $20 through Priceline.

Soi, you might consider doing PL or HW for some area that is close to somplace you would like to visit for those three days. There are lots of options for both hotels and activities in the LA Basin

Yikes, if she wants to stay there she can come sleep on my couch!

Yeah, yeah, I know that was for illustration only.

Mike is there a Worldmark Pismo Beach? We passed Solvang driving to Avila Beach. I think it is a bit of a trek for a 3 day stay...actually Pismo would be too. and the traffic would be miserable.

But Pat it is a DRY heat! We nearly died in April in Palm Desert one year.

I just need 3 nights but I couldn't find anything decent for November in SCal I'd hate to try the rates in July....

I'm sure something will come up they always seem to.

Maybe the Worldmark in Big Bear but I don't see that location holding our interest for more than a week.

Since you are ok with the heat then why don't you try the Inn at Silver Lakes. You could probably stay almost free there.

Being in the high desert, it should actually a bit cooler there.

And with Silver Lakes as a base you could explore .... ummm, ummm..... Adelanto. Yeah, Adelanto on 4th of July. That's the place to be. Don't miss it. And if you manage your time you might be able to squeeze in Hesperia.

OK Guys you are scaring me. REALLY scaring me. and I know you are all ust teasing.

I want real and valuable suggestions not scary business locales or the even more scary Silver Lakes.

There is one benefit to going to Palm Desert. I would get to meet Marcie from Trading Places.

Worst case I can go crash with DOD but quarters get tight.

Hey now!!......I know a really nice place in Hesperia you could stay...there is even a pool and a hot tub surrounded by palm trees.....I'd blend tropical drinks....and you wouldn't even have to use the outhouse-because us folks in the high desert have indoor plumbing now. Imagine that.

It's not all that exciting. We own at San Diego Country Estates in Ramona. I told Lawren, if she's interested I may be able to get those nights. There's not much to do right in that area, and it will be hot there....but not as hot as Palm Springs. Just another idea.
