5 FEET of snow???

Just listening to the weather. Tahoe is supposed to be getting 5 FEET of snow this weekend from the west coast storm.

I dunno. We get 2 to 3 feet and everything closes down for a day or two. What we would do with 5 feet of the white stuff????

My snowblower only works in the Summer, I don't think I would want to be there. HMmmmmmmmmmm maybe since it is winter now, I should get my snow blower working for once for when I need it.

I am leaving on Wed for a one week ski trip to Ridge Tahoe.

I don't know what they will do with it. I do know that skiing through 5 feet of powder would be nearly impossible for someone of my stature.

Lets hope they can pack that stuff down before I get there or I may be lost on the mountain forever.

In the San Francisco bay area is been raining hard all day and the storm is going that direction so its all ready rained 3" and it does not look like it will slow down.

We got married summer of 1974, and immediately moved to San Bernardino. We rented a two-bedroom cabin in the San Bernardino Mountains, just up the hill from Blue Jay (between Blue Jay and Twin Peaks, near Agua Fria junction, if yoiu know the area well). The cabin was two story, with one of the bedrooms upstairs.

Our landlord showed us pictures of the house after a three-day snowstorm the previous winter. The house was buried in snow almost halfway up the second story - about ten to twelve feet of snow. The previous tenants literally used the second story bedroom window to get in and out.

CalTrans and the County Road Department were clearing snow with the largest front end loaders and earth moving equipment available. Of course, there were many autos that had been abandoned and were completely blanketed in snow. As snow was being pushed off the edges of the roads, it was not uncommon for cars to get pushed off the road and into a gully or ravine along with the snow. There apparently were even several cases of some small cars (such as VW Beetles) getting scooped up by front-end loaders, carried to the edge of a cliff, and dumped down the cliff face along with a load of snow.

I can't imagine having to deal with 10 ft of snow. You wouldn't even be able to see out your windows.

I know, it's very hard not to do the OLE and the flamenco thing. But they don't go with the whole quiet woods motif. You have to work at your art.
