  • We loved Shadow Ridge...would we like Desert Springs?

I am trying to plan our next trip to Palm Springs. We absolutely loved Shadow Ridge -- loved the villa, the pool, the surroundings, the location, etc. For variety and to use the Marriott hotel, is it worth staying at Desert Springs I or II? All 3 are available for our dates. Which one is preferable as far as newness, best for families, pool or other things? Are there any negatives to Desert Springs? TIA!

We've never stayed at Shadow Ridge but have a Desert Springs II several times. I believe that DS I gives some sort of spa access, whereas DS II does not so perhaps someone else can comment, but be careful. I know that we didn't have spa access at DSII.

While Shadow Ridge is newer and probably fancier, we really like DSII. The units are large, very comfortable, and we love sitting on our deck enjoying th golf course.

You can't go wrong with any one of the three Marriotts although we prefer Desert Springs 2. The two Desert Springs timeshares are a little closer to restaurants and shopping and are located on the same grounds as the Marriott Hotel. As long as you are returning here, do yourself a favor and sample one of the Desert Springs units. If you are a golfer and a swimmer, request a building near one of the pools, and request a unit overloooking the golf course. I prefer the second floor over ground level.

We own at Shadow Ridge but find ourselves usually staying at Desert Springs II! All three choices are wonderful and Shadow Ridge has the best pool area for families. But... we really like the other amenities at DSV II. The close proximity to the fancy JW Marriott is wonderful. We always ride the shuttle several times to the hotel for dinner, or a boat ride for the kids, or to use their complimentary 9 hole golf-n-putt with the kids. I love their newly renovated spa, so I (mom) always visit once when we go and enjoy every blissful minute.

The units are very large in DSV II 1450 sq. ft to be exact. That is 150 sq. ft. larger than at SR. The DSV I units are even larger than that!!! But for families with young children, DSV II is definitely better because the lock-off at DSV I is basically separated from the one-bedroom unit by a fouray. Not close enough if you have little ones (and we do).

The whole atmosphere and landscaping is different at Desert Springs. Since both properties are wonderful, I think you should try Desert Springs next time and then decide for yourself. I know both properties very well, so if you have any specific questions, let me know.
