  • Westin Mission Hills questions

What amenities do Villa guests have access to? Is it far from the Villas to the main hotel? How are the spa/restaurants? How close is it to the "center" of stuff in Palm Desert/Palm Springs?

If anyone has been there, how about a review?

I've never gotten an exchange request matched so quickly, I wasn't prepared, was still thinking about adding Desert Springs, but I am sure not complaining!

I was there in November, so let's see what I can remember......

OK, first off, it's much better to have a second floor unit. First floor units have ground level balconies with very little privacy. Ideally, you would want a second floor, corner unit in buildings 30 - 33, maybe even 34.....if I remember correctly. They are closer to the main building, spa, etc, and about half way to the pools. I know that I wrote somewhere the unit we stayed in, and it was great. We had a second floor, corner unit, with a view of the golf course, walking distance to main building, & pool.

The lower number buildings are closer to the hotel/spa, and the higher number buildings are closer to the pool.

Villas have access to all amenities, but of course there is a charge involved for the spa.

You need a car to get to anything....Palm Desert, and Palm Springs are both about a 15 minute ride. Maybe Palm Desert is less, it's closer than Palm Springs.

Lots of restaurants, and shops in Palm Springs, and lots of gay bars. BTW....the town is very gay.

If you have any specific questions, I'll try to answer them.

Just remembered that there was a notice posted that renovations where going to start on the main building/spa, but I don't remember when, or know if that would have any bearing on your trip.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Fine by me, should be a lot of fun.

I will check on construction. My confirm says unit 3305, do you think they put you in the unit on the confirm? I called but couldn't get a straight (ha) answer.

No.....I called too, and put in a request, but when we arrived, I changed the room they had assigned me. The girl was very nice, and let us change the room. We really had a wonderful location, and view. However, the only really important thing, IMO is second floor. I did not like the first floor units.

Ok, I will request a second floor, thanks Ang.

Are you in a 2 bedroom, large 1 bedroom, or small 1 bedroom? Travelling alone or with kids? There are many different reasons to request specific buildings, but it depends on how you are travelling.

We go every year. I can offer a fair amount of advice, but the specifics are important.

            When are you going?

There are two types of units for the large 1 bedrooms. One has a **HUGE** circular jacuzzi tub in the bedroom itself. The other has a decent size jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. If it's just adults, you probably want the style with the larger jacuzzi. When we go, we bathe all three kids in the tub after a day at the pool. It's great fun (for adults, too. :-) )

The buildings that have the large tub are the two sets of buildings to the west of the main pool. I don't have a map right now, but I'll look for it when I get home. If you call them, they should be able to tell you. You probably want a mountain view, too. The rooms facing the inner duckpond area are also very nice, but moreso if you are there with kids.

Ok, large jacuzzi, mountain view, 2nd floor... I'd love to know the buildings if you find the map. Thanks!

I also suggest buildings 30 through 33 - all golf course and mountain views. Buildings 42, 44 and 46 are also golf course and mountain views but are further from the hotel. I am headed there on Saturday.

buildings 30 and 31 have the style with the jacuzzi in the bathroom. Buildings 32 and 33 have the larger round jacuzzi tub in the bedroom. 30 is closest to the hotel. 33 is closest to the timeshare pool. Buildings 42 - 46 all have the jacuzzi in the bathroom.

While were at it, is there different configurations for the 2 bedroom lockoffs also? Thanks, Sean

The older buildings (the two sets of buildings just west of the main timeshare pool) have less light on the smaller side and a very large jacuzzi in the main bedroom of the large side. The rest of the buildings have a more airy small side and a jacuzzi (still very decent size) in the bathroom of the large side.
