  • Ridge at Tahoe questions

We have a week reserved (6/20-6/27) in a 2 bd at The Ridge at Tahoe and am looking for advice on what area/building to request. We are a family of 4 (me, DH, DS13 and DD10) if that matters. Any suggestions on acivities at that time of year would alos be appreciated!

It's a beautiful spot for summer, you'll have a great time. We stayed in a Cascades unit and were very happy; although it wasn't one of the newly redone ones, it was very spacious and comfortable. A number of the buildings have been redone and are really nice, if you call the sales office they can tell you which those are. I think the Naegle units are the only ones with balconies.

For activities, etc, there was a detailed thread from last year, I will try to find it...

I stayed around the same time last year. It was a great vacation....we were hindered a little bit by the fires...but all in all great. I tried to request Neagle building and was told that I get what I get-the resort was sold out-yeah right-although there was a wedding the first weekend we were there.

I stayed in the Tower builiding I think. It was closest to the outdoor pool not the one at the main building with the registration desk and deli/store/etc.

It too was spacious. We had a 2bd 2ba lockout. The sleeper sofa left something to be desired-my poor son-that was because my sister came and we were a party of five.
There were hot tubs inside/outside on each end of the building. BBQ grills on the patio near the entry of the building.

Even if it's warm during the day-it does get chilly and windy in the evening. So bring shorts AND sweatshirts.

I think our favorite activity was river rafting. This was basically tubing-class I. A leisurely float-we brought a picnic lunch and stopped a long the way. It was up on the North side-I will find a link for the companies that do it and post it. My kids still talk about it. I also never go anywhere with out getting on a boat-we did an afternoon sail that was fun too. We are such water people-but we also hiked up near Olympic Village-my sister is an avid hiker and quite frankly tried to hurt us that day-but I am glad we did it. A more moderate hike was around a small lake...real close to the resort-I'll look that up too.

We did a lot of sightseeing and we drove the complete loop around the Lake and just backtracked to areas that seemed interesting on other days. Again-the fires forced some of that. I really enjoyed the North side.

I think you will have a great time.

Off to look for links-I'll edit when I find them.

You can request but the Ridge does try and give you the unit that was deposited!

We traded back in for May 24,2008 after canceling our Maui trip and have as a owner called to find we have the Casecade which is one we have never stayed in.

We own the Naegle and Tower and of coarse in my opinion are the best for different reasons.

If our Naegle unit isn't rented June 28-July 5th week we will be back up to enjoy the fireworks on the lake.

The Naegles are three building 10-11-12 and are true two bedrooms, sleeps six with great patio.

Tower units are right across from the main club house.

If you have young kids you might like the Plaza or Terrace or Casecade down the hill. These are close to the second pool and seems great for young kids.

Well ok Phil, help, where did I stay? LOL! Terrace or Plaza? I know it wasn't Cascade. Cascade is on the same side as the theater and game room-I was right across from the that. Right? It was a short and direct route to the walk to the pool. We parked in the second garage-not the first one up the hill-the second one.

Oh...and the bears...oh my. I have a story about the bears. Needless to say-my daughter's only souviner was a stuffed bear from the gift shop to remind her of our stay

If you were down the hill next to the second pool that would be the Terrace,no washer/dryer in units. Plaze across the road on same side as the Tower and has washer/dryer inside each unit!

I uderstand the plaza has hot tubs up on the roof!

              Hope this helps!

It did help. We were in the Plaza because we did have washer/dryer AND there were hot tubs on the top floor.

If you ever get a chance during the summer try the Naegles!

We enjoy coffee and paper in the morning on the large patio and watch Chip and Dale run around.

We cook those big stakes on the patio two or three nights there.

As far as having bear stories we had one and three cubs in our garage area three nights in a row last July 4th week.

The owners book they send out last year showed a bear sitting in the hot tub. Security was making rounds and found the bear just sitting in the tub!

Couple years ago this one dumb lady in the Naegle units cost a bear its life.

After all the warnings of not feeding the bears she see's one from her patio,I think it was floor five where garage is. She threw food to it and it came through the garage and tried to break into the kitchen window.

Security had to kill it to stop it and now they have bars on the kitchen windows.

Talking to the maintenance people and they joked that in this case the lady should have been shot instead of the bear! Just plain stupidity!
