Tamarack Beach Resort Carlsbad

I will be going to the Tamarack Beach Resort in Early April via RCI for spring break and it is my understanding that all reservations at TBR are via lottery by week and unit number. Does the resort extend the exact same unit deposited in RCI to the exchanger who is coming to the resort?

Any other tips on getting a good 2BR unit with a Friday check-in at TBR? Which units are best and which to avoid if there is some flexibility with the resort?

We have traded into TBR many times and always get the unit deposited. All 2BR are ocean view. Take what you get. It will be great. My favorite sunset picture was taken off a 2BR deck there.

Thanks for the information. I just got the confirmation and the unit is in the low 200's above the restaurant......is that a good unit area? Is the restaurant noisy or does it pose any problems like smokers or smells?

BTW, the early bird specials in the restaurant are very good.

Thanks Frank and Philsfan for the review on Tamarack. Len has a pdf resort layout which would be nice to have in the review....I have some on other resorts...are we going to have that ability to post that stuff and pictures on the reviews?

I found out the room my friend got is #343, I called the resort and they said it one of the top 3 rooms in the resort. Great layout and view.
The only other timeshare my friend has stayed in is "last call" Carlsbad Inn, where he got the 3rd floor oceanview end unit. the best room in the place.

I think he would vote in your poll "screw owning and exchanging, RCI rentals are the way to go"

Tamarack also said that your unit is full oceanview room and a great unit. Hopefully the street noise isn't too bad.

Wow I can't believe he got #343, you can tell from the resort map that is one of the best rooms. Tell him I want it. That is awesome.

The only way to post a picture in the review right now is if you upload the picture to the photo server that we have here then copy the img url and paste it to the review.
you should be able to do the same with the PDF.

Fish House Vera Cruz.

343 is the best

We had lunch on the balcony of 343 with an owner who was staying there. He said he had been requesting it for several years and was happy to finally get it this past October.

Two thumbs up for Tamarack.

We stayed in unit 202, a 2BR, and it was great. We did have a few noise issues with the restaurant downstairs as the bar there is a happening place and the 2 a.m. closing in the parking lot can get pretty noisy when all the drunks leave.

Other than that the units 201 to 205 there have nice large balconies which actually block the traffic noise and give lots of outdoor space to eat and play in the sun while looking at the ocean and listening to the waves.

The odd numbered units have their living room and master bedroom on the ocean front....the even numbered units have just the living room as the master actually extends to the back of the unit as well as the other bedroom.

It was a great week and I plan to write a review.....when I find the time and am inclined to do it.

We're checking into this resort in three weeks. John or Len, did you still have that PDF of the resort layout? Can you email me a copy? We're scheduled to check into room 349 based on the RCI exchange confirmation. Anyone know anything about that unit?
