And I'm planning on doing bkfst in (of course, bkfst = coffee.... )

I will drop Ken a PM.
The chinese place was UBER reasonable as all truly good chinese restaurants in Chinatowns (their's and our's) are.

You mean people have something with coffee for breakfast?

        G*d, I hope not!

I've never seen one. And the Wendy's (that had the most incredible view) is gone. So, maybe I'm safe.

However, there is a food court in the Queen's Shop in Waikoloa. Don't know what they have.

Just checked. Looks like there is a Jack in the Box in Hilo, none on the Kona side.

I wouldn't either but there are a few americanized ones both there and here in New York City.

How many times must I tell you I only do JitB for fast food! and that is probably because I can't get it here!

True, true. I'm sure we've eaten at both the Americanized and non versions in SF. We usually walk around until we're hungry and something looks good. Also like the restaurants in Japantown..............for Japanese of course.

So take a day trip to Hilo while you're on the Big Island and make your family go to Jack in the Box for lunch.

Hilo is the closest. That is about 2 to 3 hours from where we'll be.

Wow. I had been trying to wrangle the same week there, but it didn't work out. Now I find out I'm missing a 3 hour drive to JIB!

Uhhh, sorry we kind of hi-jacked your thread.

But since you decided to take the unit, I guess it's okay.

There has got to be something in or near Hilo that I can pass off as a day trip and conveniently get hungry...

Frank, I'll be there starting Feb. 13th. We are visiting local friends, all I know so far is that we are eating at Chez Panisse for V day, and we may be spending one day in Napa. Any recommendations welcome...
Do Salsolito, Nice town be sure to wear shoes that you can climb large hills with. Alcatraz is something you should not miss, The chowder soap in bread bowls according to my wife and son were great by the Wharf. The sea lions by the wharf are cool be sure to bring your camera. There is a famous Chinese restaurant in Grimaldi Square , But it is hard to find take the elevator to the top floor. If you can make reservations in advance do so, Just be for warned you might be the only American eating there.

Do you mean Ghiradelli Square? If so, be sure to check first as lots of the businesses there are gone. Our only reason to go there any more is for the hot fudge sundaes at the Chocolate Factory.
