  • Powell Place on hold, should I take it?

SFX just called me with a studio sleeps 2 for my dates in a few weeks... I have a rental booked at SVC Donatello, but I can cancel.

Any reason I shouldn't take Powell Place? I only have a few hours to decide.

Neighborhood looks good. Anyone been there recently? Unit condition info?

I know nothing about Powell Place. But I'd take just about any place in SF.

I went to TUG to look at the reviews there and also to get an idea where it's located. Sounds good. You'll be right on the cable car line.

Faust owns there. I'm sure it's very nice.

I thought so... maybe he will come along and make some unit request recommendations...

Frank, I'll be there starting Feb. 13th. We are visiting local friends, all I know so far is that we are eating at Chez Panisse for V day, and we may be spending one day in Napa. Any recommendations welcome...

There's a good Italian restaurant right on the Powell Street cable car line. At least we liked it, . Dh is now working in SF, I'll see if he has any suggestions for you as well.

                Trattoria Contadina Italian Restaurant

And though I've never eaten there, Michael Mina's in the St. Francis, is supposed to be wonderful.

I ate at the restaurant in the St Francis a few years ago and like it very much. Not sure if it was the same name then, but it was good, and too nice for our kids. This trip, no kids

Michael Mina's has only been in there a couple of years, I think. I haven't eaten there either....too expensive since we're usually there with our kids.

It seems like we're in SF every month or so, but I really can't even tell you where all we've eaten. I did like Sears for breakfast (on Powell) if you're up for a big breakfast some morning. Very busy though. And the Daily Grill on Geary isn't bad for lunch, or dinner.

Drop Ken a PM and he'll get back to you. He's also one of the best damn tour guides for SFO! He picked me up at the airport in October and I got the best view from his convertible of everything from Coit Tower to the Haight.

Of course we also indulged my Jack-in-the-Box jones but I don't think that will fit into your particular restaurant agenda.

We also went to a very authentic and delicious chinese place in Chinatown.

I'm trying to think of the seafood restaurant we ate at when there with the family. Great sunset views and delicious.

I haven't seen a carb in weeks, Jack in the Box sounds almost good... I am hoping to keep restaurants reasonable the rest of the week, the V Day meal is over the top as it is. Alas, I may be the only voice of reason on this trip (and you know that's not saying much). It looks like we'll be spending a bit of time in Berkeley with friends. And I'm planning on doing bkfst in (of course, bkfst = coffee.... )

I will drop Ken a PM.
