That's really great, Emmy. I saw the green flash once on the Big Island from Mauna Kea. Fantastic!

Emmy,
I can't believe those pics come from a phone. Simply beautiful. I also believe I have seen the green flash. It was on Kauai. The sun seems to set so fast on the islands. It was very much a "did you see that?" moment. I truly believe I did.
Enjoy the rest of your week and your time in Maui. And, of course, keep posting pics-phone or camera. They look great!

Emmy, I love the pictures. It sure makes me yearn for views like that again. Four weeks on Maui? Perfect! May your visit in the islands be carefree and totally relaxing this time. I'm happy for you.
We will be spending two weeks on Kauai/Oahu in October, so we have something to look forward to, too.

Your pictures are great, Emmy. I sure hope you have saved a "green flash" opportunity for us while we are here in Carlsbad since they happen so rarely. We have seen it twice...first time years ago on the Big Island and again a few years ago while in San Diego. It really does happen!
Aviara is fabulous as usual and I got to meet Odaddy & his lovely wife last night. It's always fun to put faces to names.

We met barndweller and dougp26364 and their family this week!
We had a nice visit last Monday from Julie (barndweller), her husband and her lovely Mom. She baked a delicious lemon cake for us that was also my birthday cake yesterday. Here is a picture of Julie and family.
Yesterday, we drove up the hill to the Marriott Newport Coast Villas and visited Doug (dougp26364) and his wife who are staying at this resort. They really had a nice view and it was very pleasant outside on their balcony as it was so protected from the cold wind.
We were looking at the ocean and Peter spotted a whale and there may have been a second one too as we saw two spouts. They were there for quite a long time so that was a nice surprise for Doug and his wife and for us too. His wife kept looking for them today but didn't see any as it is not usual for this time of the year. The whales should still be in Hawaii or in Mexico right now.
Here is a picture of Doug and his wife. Both gave me permission to post the pictures.
After our visit, we drove further up the hill and took a picture from the panoramic view in front of the 4000 building(s). The Marriott is building a new phase higher up the hill so their view should be even better yet.
We didn't see any whales from our balcony here but we saw several dolphins swimming by. We also had a constant visit from a hawk. I took one picture very close up as he was on our balcony today and I was afraid that he was going to attack me but he just looked at me. He got often bombed by several black birds or crows but he didn't butch from his usual spot at the house next door.
Rick (ricoba) was planning to visit us today but he had to cancel at the last minute but Doug and his wife came to Laguna Beach and stopped by here so we had another nice visit. I always enjoy it and I already saw some of Doug's beautiful photos he took of this area and beach so I hope that he will post them in his albums when he gets home.
When are we going to have a formal get-together in Southern California?

Now that our better friends from OY are back from Mexico, I remember that they own at Laguna Surf. It came up last night when we went over to see their new puppy and eat their yummy turkey dinner soup.
They own at/go to Pueblo Bonito, which shows up here in Ex Ops frequently. He had been trying to book their three weeks in PB for next February and had not been able to see it online, but when he called, it was available.
I have encouraged them (the him half to participate here, but I believe being OY has done something to him, to where he's not excited about spending time on another forum.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick
