Hello from Villa L'Auberge - Del Mar, CA

This timeshare is to DIE for. We have gotten unit 612. Top floor lower building, which is on the same level as parking so no steps thank goodness. Unimpeded view of pacific and we can hear the waves from our balcony. Cathedral ceilings, fireplace, I could move right on in. Must ask where they get the pillows from and the bed is like sleeping on a cloud.

The hotel this timeshare is associated with is 5* and gorgeous. The only thing is the train but that is an issue with most properties in this area. Nothing we can do about it and I'm already up for that 5AM run. I have no idea if they run throughout the night but I didn't hear them.

Oh and there is no internet ensuite free or otherwise.

Weather 70 and sunny and hopefully it will stay that way.

Del Mar is a very cute little town with tons of shops on the main drag, very reminiscient of Laguna Beach. The beach looks gorgeous and we'll try to get around a bit today.

Jim it has taken me about 8 years to grab this when I could come out. There are only 12 timeshare units in total.

The funny thing is someone OY always disses this place because of power wires and some buildings between hotel and Villas but I have seen nothing like that.

I think this is as close to a 10 as RCI will ever get with me. The only reason not a 10 is the internet scenario. Obviously they can't help the train so I wouldn't ding them for it.

Great pics Walt! I have a few in my camera there was a lovely sunset last night.

We arrived around 5PM local and because it was Easter Sunday much was closed. We will definately take in some local stuff today. Did find the Von's.

There is a very nice restaurant on the beach just down from the Villa L'Auberge. It is called Jake's Del Mar. It is one of the restaurants run by TS Restaurants. They include Cliffhouse Duke's Huntington Beach Duke's Kauai Duke's Malibu Duke's Waikiki Hula Grill Kaanapali Hula Grill Waikiki Jake's Del Mar Keoki's Paradise Kimo's.

PS Try the Crispy Calamari macadamia nut coated, sweet & sour glaze starter. My wife doesn't like Calamari very much, but she tried my order and I ended up getting a 2nd order for her.

Good Pictures! I saw this place whenever I am in Del Mar but never stayed there.

Lawren, if you have time, also try Leucadia Pizzeria in nearby Encinidas. Not your typical East Coast pizza but very good nonetheless. Their dessert is also very good.

I am glad that you are enjoying your stay at this resort so much and that the weather is decent.

I'll bet that the power wires have been put underground by this city. I wished they would do it everywhere like they did in Switzerland eons ago. Every little town will look so much nicer then.
