I've only been to Carlsbad Inn and Seapointe. I've only been to Seapointe with a child, so I can't really compare the 2 on the same basis. The beach at the Carlsbad Inn is much betterthan the Seapointe. It's wider and calmer. The one we walked to at the Seapointe is where they do some surfing and the beach is not wide at all, water is rougher
They both have some good activities. Carlsbad has one pool and the Seapointe has 2...one for kids/families and one for adults.
Carlsbad has restaurants with walking distance, Seapointe doesn't. I preferred the beds at Carlsbad..as a mattr of fact everyone in our party did (6 of us).
Seapointe is closer to legoland, but not as close as some other GPR resorts.
If you want the beach and that is the main reason to go.....So. Cal Beach Club beats them all hands down. It is actually on the beach. When we go there we usually don't do all the 'other' activities in the area. We wake up everyday and we ask ourselves....what do you want to do today? Go to the beach.....everyday. They also have beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, and bikes for use. That is the real beach experience. Downside is they do not have a pool but they do have a hot tub. And they have bbq's. So you can go shopping once.....and go to the beach for seven days in a row. And never want to go anywhere else....but that is personal preference.
Carlsbad Inn is accross the street from the beach and is also nice. We also love Carlsbad Seapointe Resort.
Life is tough when you have to make choices like this.
We have also stayed at the new Wyndham Oceanside and the beach is close and they have a pool too.
"If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed." -- Thomas Jefferson to Col. Yancey, 1816
All depends on what you want. Family size may matter. Carlsbad Inn has only 7 or so 2 beds. Smaller galley kitchens, but--terrific location. Seapoint has the train behind it. Also has tennis courts and larger units.
