I'm running for the Southern California Beach Club board this year. If you own there, please consider putting a "3" in the space next to Edye Udell on your orange proxy card! (Or a 1 or 2 if you also want to vote for someone else .)
You have my full support Edye.....good luck and I hope you make it.

I just got back from Oceanside. I'm officially a SoCal Beach Club Board member. If anyone ever has any questions/issues/concerns, please let me know! I'd be happy to do any follow-up work on finding out what can be done/answers, etc.

Wonderful News!
Now can you have some of your 'close' friends over for a Beach Party?
We'll be good - promise .....
I am so happy for you and the owners....you and Calidave should do great.
Congrats.
John

Calidave is great! I probably wouldn't have even thought of running for the board if he hadn't suggested it. It will be really nice to have owners on the board - I believe 3 of the 5 board members are owners and 2 are from the management company. So it's got an owner majority.
I'm looking forward to my first official board meeting in August. Now I'm starting to wonder just how many tuggers are on timeshare HOA boards.
So... Something I've noticed. I don't usually get involved in "over here, over there" discussions, but I can't help but notice that a few people "over here" expressed good wishes, while "over there" there has been nary a word.
Just gives me pause.

I forgot to add: I visited the beach club for the first time right after the board meeting and it really is an amazing location! I have friends who live right on the beach in Venice, and it reminded me of their location (Of course, Oceanside and Venice have very different communities). It was truly right on the beach and I'm looking forward to bringing the kids down sometime soon.

I've noticed the same thing. I guess that means you need to spend more time over here.
It amazes me that an HOA would have two management company members on its board. Of course, there are many resorts with developers who have overstayed their welcome after the resort sold out who still cling to board seats, but a management company????!!!! That, to me, has conflict of interest written all over it! How could an HOA tolerate it?
On the OBX, the only management company that tries to control boards (Cape Management) does so by screening potential candidates for the board, and then getting the board to rubber stamp its favored candidates as the board's nominees with a ''yes/no'' soviet-style ballot listing only those names and forcing anyone else to have to run as a write in. Even so, the candidates are easily led owners rather than employees of the management company itself. Of course, more and more owners are seeing through what they are doing, and Cape has lost two of the four t/s resorts they used to manage in recent years.
A management company that doesn't know its place should be given the old heave-ho.
