We traded into Welk Mountain Resorts

We traded via II in May. There were only 1BR's listed and since we wanted to see what the new property was like, we went for it. The new units are up the hill from the older villas, providing nice views.

As the article stated, the units are more upscale and very well done. However, the 1BR that we were assigned and is being offered for trade thru II are the small lock-offs. (Welk owners can trade into the larger 1BR) I don't see how you could even open the sofabed as it is in the kitchen/dining area. We got to see the larger 1BR side and it was very spacious and comfortable. Some units on the ground floor have patios that are almost in the parking lot. No privacy.

The Mountain Villas has a large pool and waterslide. Private cabana-like areas can be rented. Facilities, pools, golf courses, etc. are available to all.

A few things we are used to in TS that were not here:
IceMaker was not turned on and there was no ice-bucket or
      ice machine nearby.
No small (juice size glasses) only large tumblers and wine glasses.
No liquid dish detergent for hand washing dishes. (Dishwasher was so small
      some bowls/pots wouldn't fit.)

Of course the amenities (restaurant and golf) as well as the weather and location were great. We would return another time if we could trade into a larger unit.

        Thanks Minnie

What did you use to trade? The small 1 bedroom almost sounds like a glorified studio. What did you think of the pool area? The last time I was there the salesman said the pool could only be used by buyers of the new units.

We used Diamond (formerly Sunterra) points thru II. There are still a good selection of weeks on the II site. You are right about the size (a studio unit).

The pool area was very pleasant and spacious. Lots of families with children using the waterslide. There were no restrictions on who used it. In fact lots of families came up from the older villas, but they had to park outside the Mountain Villas to preserve our spots. An attendant was on duty and we had a special parking tag to show we could park inside.

We traded in for a week this October in a 2BR. I've driven by the resort many times however this will be the first time to actually stay there. Looking forward to it.
