  • Newport Coast Villas, newest phase

The final phase of construction is completed at Marriott's Newport Coast. BUT even though they are done, they aren't furnishing the rooms till the first of the year. So the ~80 new rooms (almost all the great views) will not be available for guests till after Jan.

At least the third pool complex did open next to those bldgs. Great little pool complex. Great views from the pool deck but not busy at all.

We were in building 4600 this time. As Bill has mentioned in another post, it is turned toward the hill. We could see the ocean from the balcony or from the living room couch. We could see the sunrise, but not the sunset.

We walked up the steps to the new pool one day. It was very nice. I was surprised at how large it was. There were 2 teenaged sisters doing laps when we got there. Still plenty of room for the 3 or 4 others of us. There are also 2 hot tubs there.

There is a large grass area called the "event lawn". Looked like a yoga class had just ended when we arrived.

We will be there the third week of Jan. But as exchangers (M to M) I don't expect to get a very choice view.

Were you able to vacation here this week? The ocean was flat as a pancake the first few days but then the wind came up suddenly and the ocean was wild and beautiful!

We were lucky to be on vacation too and the sunsets were different every night. I hope you saw it too. I hate to go home tomorrow but we will be back again next year!

              December 21, 2009 - Winter Solstice!

Wild and beautiful but cold that day as the northern wind came from the snowcapped mountains.

              Saturday Sunset (December 19, 2009).

              Sunday Sunset.

Monday Sunset, etc. Tonight was completely different again but still in the camera.

What is the new building number? We will be there the first week of February, 2010. What building(s) should we request and I assume a high floor?

I have two units exchanged for February. The II confirmation calls the units TOVI and HTOVI. Does anyone know what that means?

I requested any building between 38xx-45xx and 48xx-50xx any floor will have a nice view.

The 20xx- 28xx building also are nice as long as you get above the first floor (3rd & 4th are best)

All units are the same maybe TOVI is owner deposited & HTOVI is marriott deposited.

Emmy...again, thanks for those beautiful pictures!
We stayed at Newport Coast Villas 12/7-11, and loved it. It was pretty cold, but love the beach area any time of year. In fact, it rained on us all the way there, and almost all the way home, but was clear in between.
A friend came down to spend a night with us, and she took me to Roger's Gardens. It was so beautiful, with all the greenery, and gorgeous decorations. I'd never heard of it. (I'm SO sheltered!)
We also had breakfast at The Beachcomber Cafe. What a neat little place THAT is, and the food is great. (I made a reservation at OpenTable Restaurants and Restaurant Reservations)
We really didn't check the resort out much, but it is a wonderful place, very classy, and comfortable, and I'll go back any chance I get.
Thanks for your note, too. Jean

I forgot to mention, we were in bldg. 3900, and had an ocean view from the LR and the BR.
