I like titleists and both of us like softer golfballs and no wisecracks please.

You are staying down here for two weeks aren't you?

Yeah, two weeks, the second yet to be determined. Maybe in an RCI Motel 6. Oops, there was a wisecrack.

what are the weeks please, I have forgotten and i signed up for something and then thought it might conflict with your visit.
Our spare room is probably available, but last year my sister was going to come, i said our cousin will be here too, so my sister wouldn't come and then my cousin arrived, got a phone call her friend died, and flew right back, so i flet bad for my sister. Anyhow, she usually comes in jan but the week is the one with the holiday on Monday, I think later in the month.

I do not like the beach at Manasota Key/Englewood as much as the beach at FMB/Bonita Beach/Vanderbilt Beach.

I only had one nice day, our last day last month, to spend on it, and I walked all the way down to Stump Pass, around it, and started back on the bay side. About a 3 hour walk. & chiily.

The only dolphins I saw in the entire 2 weeks was on this walk, and they were coming into the bay through the pass.

On the other side of the pass, about 100 yards over, were islands, with nice houses, accessible only by boat. Huh!

The beach is much smaller, not the 100-yard verson you get further south, and the sand is coarser/darker, not the powder sugar sand of Siesta Key.

Not far into my walk, just south of the resort, beachfront property owners had the beach staked out with No Trespassing signs, saying they own the beach to meantide, so that at anything past that, they supposedly owned it all, and you could not walk there then.

            Really????

            Really!!!!

The following is near the pass, taken from the bayside. At the pass there is a nice big beach, where boats can pull up, as they can along the bayside, too. Judging from the lack of sand, this is probably at high tide:

The following is the public beach, about a mile north of Stump Pass, where the beach is bigger.

Englewood? What's in Englewood? Nobody from Florida vacations in Englewood.

The dolphins aren't there because they went south for the winter.

What island was this? North Captiva? I thought that was the only island that you had to take a ferry to get to.

These people don't own the beach. God does. Go walk on their signs.

Is the beach at Lago Mar in Fort Lauderdale as beautiful as it looks? Has anyone been there? It looks gorgeous.

                Thanks for any insight,

                Steve

I haven't been to this particular resort Steve, but I have been to Fort Lauderdale beach and Hollywood beach and they are all nice beaches on that stretch of the coast. Don't care for Pompano though. Most of the Broward beaches are nice.

Here are the islands accessible only by boat or ferry. On one of our drives looking at real estate we stumbled onto the ferry landing and it's only a 100 yards or so over to the other dock.

Houses in this area are still a million-ish on up.

Because of the lay of the land/water, major highways (US 41 and I75) bypass Englewood south of Venice, so it got a skipped over, except for Rotonda, which is another story.

We have wound up there because it has been the last place in SW FL where we can get something in January. I had been encouraged to give it a try. We have been in the same unit at the same resort twice now and have it booked for two weeks in 2011.

When we were there last January ('09), Englewood was named the most popular new tourist desitination in FL, but we did not see any signs of it this year.

The fact that there is good golf cheap and several of my golfing friends from home have winter places there is a plus.

We can still get to see Rapmarks and Conchman (only when it's warm). I still have his box of ProV1s. I forget I had them in the car at Applebee's. Sorry guy.

My friend who lives in Rotunda works for Jason Painter Real Estate, in rentals.

We went boating Wednesday with our friends from Wisconsin Dells (Christmas Mountain). We went all the way to Marco Island. We saw so many dolphins, 5 in one group, jumping and playing . it was a great treat.

we went out with the friends from Wisconsin Dells in April, we saw so many dolphins it was unbelievable. We went around Goodland and Marco Island by boat. I sure hope that we will be able to enjoy the water in the fall, but who knows.
