  • Newsman said it may snow tomorrow in Orlando..

On the morning forecast, it showed possible snow flakes and likely hail/sleet for tomorrow morning between 7am to noon.. (although it's up around 50 degrees right now!)..

Be warned, many Floridians can't drive in any type of icy condition! Last time I remember some sleet here- there were fender benders EVERYWHERE!

If you are in town- you might want to avoid driving around in the morning if you can help it!

Further south the forecast is for ice pellets tonight/tomorrow. But there's 70s in sight.

We've had our garden covered for a couple of days/nights. Yesterday DD#2 (who is the main gardner in our house) took all the covers off because our temps today will be warm, but she and her BF will be back tomorrow to cover everything up again for the cold week end.

It's the longest and coldest in 20 years here. I do feel sorry for the tourists who are here for a short time. But at least it's warmer here than "up there". And more sun.

      Enjoy your stay, Jim.

Covering hasn't worked for me this year.. I have a few acres just north of Orlando, and the majority of our gardens were damaged from the temps last week. What wasn't probably will be in the next few days.

Oh well... This usually happens every other year or so.. They'll all sprout back up in a few months and all will be forgotten in that warm spring sunshine!

Dd #2 is attending her first year of college in St. Petersburg. She spent four years of high school in PA. Her biggest wish was to never have to deal with snow again. And for some reason, the Florida weather seems to be my fault.

I have a friend with a DVC ownership who's down there right now with her DH and 2 kids. When she saw the forecast, she was really upset about the cold temps. Hope it warms up soon for all of you down South. Stay warm and safe!

We are not far from Joann right now and have noticed what I assume to be heat pumps frozen up/frosted over.

One of our friends from home that has a winter place here, a nice one, says it's not built tight enough for this cold.

YES, the one we live in does , but there may be some older ones who don't have heat and some who don't have A/C. I think they've become civilized down here , but when we came down in '63 to visit DH's aunt & uncle, there were many who did not have heat. His uncle insisted on a heater in their house, so they were lucky.

Our air handler is in our garage, so it won't /shouldn't freeze. The A/C unit is outside, but we won't be using that for awhile.

Our house is cement block and has a lot of insulation in the ceilings. Good builder!

Key West & some Florida Keys residents are without furnaces I'm aware of, I know, some friends of ours in Marathon & Key West don't have heat! They use space heaters & its been very cold there this last week & another five days!

The good thing about most houses here are that because we have to have A/C most of the year most people have good insulation so it does keep the house a little warmer than without it.

You don't have to run the heater as long as you do up north.
I've got mine set at 74 and it only cycles on about every 1-1/2 to 2 hours for about 15 minutes and then it's nice.

It's very overcast now our Sun is hiding somewhere.

Supposed to get into the 20's tonight.

Here in Ocala, DH found enough snow to make and throw a snowball at me! It is quite a novelty here, but I keep thinking that I'm not in Maine to throw them or to shovel or to freeze. Yes, we have heat, and it's nice and toasty.
