  • Wyndham Ocean Palms

Just booked Wyndham Ocean Palms thinking that it is a newer resort. Why does the Wyndham Sea Gardens pop up everytime I look to see Ocean Palms on the Internet? Is Ocean Palms an old resort? They only received 2 1/2 stars by most so just wondering if I should cancel through RCI. Bought the insurance and just booked it tonight for May 22nd so if anyone has info., please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Toni

Ocean Palm is one of the resort builds in the Sea Garden see (https://www.wyndhamvacationresorts.c.../resort/map.do), after find sea garden, select resort map. It is further than other building toward the beach. It has been built for a while (more than 7 years)

I think this thread should be in the Florida forum since it has nothing to do with Travel.

Was the bad experience with the resort in general, Wyndham or just the Wyndham sales staff. I've heard more than one horror story about Wyndham's sales staff to know to stay away but, I haven't heard a lot of bad things about the Wyndham resorts themselves.

It was all of the above but I will say once the resorts GM got involved he tried to calm us down.

What happened was I was there with 4 family's, I told them 4 or 5 times leave me and my family alone, The last call I got they said since I was a Fairfield /Wyndham owner that I did not have to come there and that they would come to my room at 9 am sharp and that each family would get something that I do not recall what it was now lets just say it was $100 as long as they were there for not 90 min tour but only 60 min tour. Well it was 9 am and we were all there waiting and waiting and waiting. then the phone rings and they said sorry we are late the sales rep is on there way, I said great she has 15 min to do her presentation. The woman shows up and she sees we are pissed, she was very nice and I think new at this. We told her that they waisted there first 45 minutes and that she had 15 minutes left to do her sales pitch. She did not know what to do or say so she got her supervisor on. I spoke to her Supervisor and she said sorry you need to take the whole tour so I said that they waisted 45 minutes of there time and that we will give them the next 15 minutes to finish and that right after that we will come down to collect and I hung up. The sales woman was very apologetic she then tried to do a sales pitch but knew she was not getting any where. Just over 10 minutes go by and there is a knock on the door. Guess who it was the supervisor from sales that I spoke to and she brought some friends from the Florida Police dept. She threatened to trow us out if we went down there. First off She can not since we did nothing wrong and that sales does not run the resort the resort is run by the GM which I called right away and he came ASAP as soon as I called him. The cops tried talking to me but I told them here is my cousin he works for the NY PD talk to him, That got the cops off our backs. The GM came and said the resort will make good on what we were promised but it would not be the same gifts. My party agreed to a free extra vacation each and we received something for the Disney area not sure if it was a show or dinner or a park. Te sales staff did there job to keep there gifts and most of all keep us out of there office so other people do not get to hear what they pulled and then have there future costumers run out before taking a 90 min tour.

              Wyndham Sea Garden

That is horrific!! I sent a friend to a Wyndham resort as I am an owner on a last minute deal. He did not get my text on "do not accept any welcome gifts" or anything to do with a tour. He didn't get my message so went through the entire ordeal. He timed him also and they had to pull teeth to get the $100 visa card plus a free dinner.

The cop ordeal is horrific and yes, you deserved another vacation.

Other than the ordeal, was the resort nice? The beach? I know it's hard to enjoy a place after something like that happens.

              Thanks for the information.

                Wyndham Sea Garden

Thanks everyone. Jya-Ning, it is unattractive to be so far away from the beach.

Which Wyndham or Florida Resort in general do you like? I have insurance so I can cancel this one.

Looking for a nice beach, nice room and relaxation for one of the owners/friend at my company. Not a brown noser but she has some Southwest miles that she needs to use up and I have too many timeshares.

Have one on Cocoa Beach for the week of March 16th, but that is too kiddy for her and her boyfriend. Just put it up on Redweek as I am too cheap to try II at this point.

Also have a 2 bedroom, 2 baths booked at Cabos Grand Mayan but shocked at the airfare. Waited too late and trying to decide whether to go or put it back into the RCI bucket as the original trade has a good amount of time left on it.

Too many timeshares and too little time with some time left on Shell Vacation and plenty of points at Wyndham which I do have plenty of time for those to deal with.

Wow, and I thought the Westgate sales team was bad when they pulled the maintenance meeting with us, then threatened to bill me for any damage they might find in the unit when I showed up without my wife. Like you I got the resort manager involved as soon as the salesman made the threat. Unlike you we did not get, nor did I want, any compenstation from Westgate.

We've sort of made it simple enough for ourselves with future timeshare presentations. We just don't take them. I also won't take being harrased by a sales team when I'm on vacation. Fortunately, the only time it's ever happened was that one Westgate vacation. So far we haven't stayed at a Wyndham resort but I'll keep your experience in mind if we ever do. The first call I'll be polite. The second call I'm sure they'll get the message. Lord help them if they decide to threaten me with eviction because I refuse a sales call.

What was a disgrace on there part was to have the cops come to our room knowing that we had kids there.

As to the resort itself, it is the separate rear building of sea Gardens. We only stayed there for a few nights, and quite a while ago. I remember it being good, and we had views of both ocean and inter-coastal waterway.

The best WYN beach resort in that area is either Royal Vista, or Santa Barbara (across the street, can use RV facilities, SB very recently completely remodeled).

Never punish yourself by doing an "update."

Sounds like I'm not gonna do any Wyndham TS tours.
                          Thanks for the warning.
