  • How to get nice resort + golf in early Feb?

We're flexible on location, but would like to be at least as far south as Orlando (for warmth, if it warms up by then), but north of Naples. We'll be driving down on Feb 1 or thereabouts.

Our II options (and Getaways, I think) are limited to Orlando. Haven't been there since I was a kid (now in my 50s), so not sure what it's like. Don't want to run into a ton of traffic and kids.

We like golf and outdoors stuff (hiking, gardens, heated pool). Prefer courses that aren't overly crowded and not too expensive -- is that impossible? If we don't use the II week, where might we find a good deal on a rental and golf?

A very nice resort that has an excellent golf course on site is the Marriott's Grande Vista in Orlando.

Thanks, the Grande Vista looks very nice.

Here is what II has available in the Orlando area right now. I did a quick check on TripAdvisor and none of them look that great, do you agree?

      Calypso Cay Vacation Villas
      Celebrity Resorts Orlando
      Celebrity Resorts Orlando - Oaks
      Celebrity Resorts Orlando - Spas
      Club Orlando
      Legacy Grand Maingate
      Oak Plantation
      Westgate Lakes Resort
      Westgate Vacation Villas
      Westgate Town Center

There are some outstanding II Getaways at the Marriott's Grand Vista for the Month of February 2010.

The Grand Vista resort golf putting greens and fairways are maintain daily (early in the morning everyday).

I would ask for a villas over looking the golf course.

Since no 2-BR Getaways have been available, I'm going to book a ShortStay today. Here are my choices of 2-BR units, which all have mediocre/mixed reviews. Can you please help me narrow down the list? Something fairly quiet and near some nice golf courses would be great. I sure do appreciate it.

There are many nice, and lesser, Orlando golf courses, and they have been hurting. I get emails every day. If you will PM me your email address, I will forward them on.

A discount site I have used and like is Florida Golf: Guide & Directory to Florida Golf including Golf Deals Vacations and Packages. You get four-round passes from them. Here is there deals link:

Florida Golf Discounts, Deals, Coupons, Packages and Special Offers

They reload each month so the first is the best day to look. Right now there are 15 courses, but on the first there should be 70 or 80.

We are at Englewood now, on our annual Florida vacation, and I am golfing at Rotonda:

Rotonda West, FL - Rotonda Golf & Country Club - 81 Premier Holes On The Cape Haze Peninsula

They have a $27 2:00 tee time. They also have Stay and Play deals with free golf.

Any further south on the Gulf Coast golf gets expensive.

As far as Orlando being busy, in recent years Presidents' Week has become a very busy time.
