Thanks, Jya-Ning. Now I can read about the resort too. It's far away from here so don't know much about it except for what I read on the forums.

No BBQs, why not? I can see that the resort doesn't want them inside or on the patios and balconies but not on the grounds either?

Now the owners have their opportunity for rebuttal:

      http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24332

Pretty much, "It's old and it's big, so if you want smaller and newer, go someplace else (and quit bitchin)."

Of course, what more could they say?

Jimster was very defensive of his resort.

The owners should put their energies into contacting HOA board members and housekeeping about these issues, instead of posting on that thread. It is specifically for exchanges, so responses from owners, again, is not appropriate for that discussion.

I am glad one in a million people don't die in plane crashes, as Jimster stated in his post. You would never get me on a plane again. Wife of a firefighter, plus sister-in-law has been a flight attendant for United for 35 years, so I know this fact:

1 1/2 million people were flying above the United States the day of 9/11, at the same time the first plane hit the WTC. Even if you were on the planes over our country, on the day that those four that crashed into the WTC, the Pentagon and into the ground, your chances of being on those planes was minimal.

I don't know what the numbers would be to be on a large commercial plane when it crashed, but it would be astronomical, not one in a million .

I personally liked this part: If you complain that the units are not all the same quality, same response. If you want to complain because there are no wall unit flat screen TV's, same answer. If these are essential items to you, then check into your little or moderate timeshare that was completed last week with all the modern facilities that your money can buy.

I was comparing OLCC to Cypress Pointe Resort in my post and that wasn't put up in the last couple of years. Obviously when CPR did it's renovations thay thought Jacuzzi tubs and flat screen TV with surround sound was important. IN FACT the newer section of OLCC looks pretty snazzy from the web page but I WOULDN'T KNOW as I got traded into a golf villa and WAS NOT AWARE that there was a VERY high probability of that happening.

I don't see anyone quoting that as from anyone, but I do see it in quotations. It is amazing what obsessed people will stoop to though, just like that moron that was sending out all that untrue anti-tug spam a while ago.

Jimster said no such thing. Read the thread on Tug for yourself. He never stooped to there.

              huh???

Now I thought you just accepted every unit given to you.....and didn't know how to try and get a 'handpick'ed unit....now you are giving that advice?????.....wow you learn fast....amazing.

I would think that people with enough education in timesharing and exchanges would realize that by now.

I do agree that if one has had an alledgedly bad exchange into OLCC by getting one of the older, less fancy golf villas, then DO NOT exchange back to there. You could possibly get another of the older golf villas in the West Village, so I wouldn't take any chances. I'd go someplace else in Orlando where I could handpick the unit.

Because I can see stuff that I have asked not to, because some of y'all are quoting SWSRN in your replies to her, I had a nice reply prepared to defend myself from her misquote of me.

But I am not going to waste my time.

Could you please not quote SWSRN, so I am not tempted.

And if you will not quote me in your replies to my comments, SWSRN will not be tempted.

And we will all live happily ever after.

Thanks and have a nice day.

Handpicking is definitely the way to go. At resorts where they give you the unit you are confirmed to, all you have to do is ask someone that knows the resort. I get lots of requests for unit specifications and location at the Royals and some other resorts where I have been. At one nice resort, I base my decision as to whether to exchange or not based on the size and check in day- that tells me which of the 3 phases the unit is in. It's like doing due diligence before you buy, with much less detail. Going blind is something like trick or treat. This is
one of the many reasons I don't like it when a resort assigns unit upon check in.

It's also one of the advantages of direct exchanging.

That would work with my fixed week/unit but not with my 2 floating weeks as they do not assign units until check-in...however they are amenable to requests for unit location.

All I have read makes me confused, and a bit angry.
We were in the lobby for over two hours waiting to check in, as was everyone else, because noone could check in until 4:00, despite asking several times and needing to get to the airport. We too had checked out of a different resort and were homeless. Now I read that Big Frank was allowed to check in early, and so were many other people. We were assigned a substandard unit, and a long way from anything, and requests to change it were ignored. Others say they just requested a better unit and were given it. When I commented on a different thread that our requests were ignored, it was implied that I had a lot of nerve to make reguests, and everyone wants to be near a pool. Then why oh why is Orange Lake one of the few resorts that doesn't have pools near so many units.

It is these inconsistencies that are so aggravating - being given a description of a unit with a whirlpool tub and getting a motel tub instead and all the other things. If the policy is no early check ins, then it should be that for everyone, no requests honored, then do it for everyone.
I have turned down Orange Lake ever since, I don't want to take another chance. And I hate the arguement that because you are in Orlando you are not going to be in your unit much, why is someone else planning my vacation for me.

Why not check people into units all day?

I don't understand many of the resorts' attitudes about the check-in time. It's not like the maids are cleaning every unit at once, and they are all going to be clean at the same time. Hey, maybe that is what they do. That would explain the dirtiness of the units.

I don't think it takes much cleaning up after most people. When we leave our units, they look no worse for the wear: I clean the kitchen sink and countertops, then pile the towels together on one bathroom floor. The place only needs a towel and sheet change to look clean again. But they are supposed to clean floors, toilets, vacuum, etc. Maybe if a clean user has been the last exchanger and the unit looks okay, they might just be doing a little spot cleaning and sheet change. You never know.
