OMG!! I was downloading Kelli's picture from seaworld and she has a picture of the trainer that died performing with shamu. As soon as I finish putting our two sets of camera pictures together I'll let you know so you can see this. I saw her the saturday before she died. shaggy

I expect you're not the only one realizing that, shaggy. That's going to give those photos a very different resonance, I'm sure.
What's intriguing is that three Disney World employees were killed on the job/from injuries sustained on the job last year, one of them from an injury gotten while publicly performing, but I'll bet very few of the people taking pictures of that performer that week knew it happened. The difference in coverage is incredible.Comment

I'm sure you're right, but as a parent, it's the monorail one that I most would want to know about. The others were all people working at the respective parks, who presumably knew the risks they were taking; the monorail driver most likely did not know he was at risk (since the early reports that the other guy was following standard - although not written - procedure were apparently supported by testimony). Worse, from my perspective, is the fact that the passengers were all put at risk, and a risk that they shouldn't have been facing.
Rumor has it that guests aren't allowed to ride up front anymore, either, which is not surprising but is yet another "old school Disney" kind of thing that's gone because The Powers That Be don't care as much as Walt did. And now I'm really sounding like a sour old grump.
