With all that said.
I'm off to Orlando again for another waste of my time with the mouse.
Middle daughter and I are going to Disney World for the first time in April. Never been there before, although I did do DisneyLand sometime around 1974.

Bummer about JMH. Hope you can find a new job without too much trouble. With our aging population I'd guess there's a need for you, so perhaps just a matter of finding a place that's run better. Best of luck!
For what it's worth, our last two trips have been in May (but before the Memorial Day crowd rolls in) and it's been a great time. Post Spring Break and pre-summer crowds. We're headed back in just under 2 months and can't wait.
And yes, we're pulling our son out of school for the week to do this, but as he's in kindergarten we're not concerned that he's gonna miss much other than a few games of duck-duck-goose

Apologies if you already know this, but you can get a slight discount on park tickets if you sign up at Mousesavers.com. May or may not be worth it to you as I think it's around $15-$25 per ticket cheaper using Undercover Tourist than buying them at the gate or direct. I'm far from an expert, and I've already recognized a few screen names from some other sites that are far more knowledgeable than I, but happy to answer any questions that I can about your upcoming trip.
My Mom insisted that when my brother was failing everything in Junior high except shop class that he be allowed to enter the vocational/technical schools that were more geared to the underprivileged and not openly available to the suburban children mostly just to the inner city kids.
Forgot to say that you've got a smart mom.

I knew, but thanks for the reminder! ('Cuz I'm a space cadet and tend to forget these things when actually forking over the cash, ack!) Middle daughter and I are actually going on the "Give a Day" thingie this time, and just hitting the Magic Kingdom, but I hope to go back and take all the troops to Epcot sometime. Assuming I can convince my youngest to voluntarily placer herself within 50 feet of a costumed character within the next few years.

Our son has already been to WDW twice but has been on less than 10 rides, so I am all too familiar with the fear factor. This upcoming trip however, we have a secret weapon - Grandma and Grandpa are coming along and sadly (for us parents) he's always been more willing to try new stuff (or just plain listen) if it comes from Grandma.

1974? Time for a revisit. You won't recognize the place. What has taken you so long?
Yes it's a bummer what is going on at JMH. Tomorrow we see if the county is going to take over our hospital and bust up the unions. It seems that it might be a set up to take the union down. I think they're just using the economy as an excuse as management has been trying to break up the unions for more than 10 years. Unfortunately it looks like they just may succeed this time in the name of saving our jobs.

Don't feel bad I definetly have my blonde moments too.

He's gonna miss kindergarten?
You could get locked up for this you know.

I'll roll the dice and hope for the best.
When he (and our 1 yo daughter) get older it will be different, but since we've been told by his teacher that his math and reading skills are already at the mid-2nd grade level I don't think we have to worry about him falling behind if he misses a week for a few years. Don't mean to brag, but isn't that what parents do
For non-WDW trips in the future we'd probably travel in either the summer or Spring Break, but if we can have a few more trips of avoiding the crowds by travelling in May we're going to take advantage of it !!

Vacationing with my parents did not encourage me to share the experience with my chillins. Took discovering TSing to get hubby and I to actually vacation, and that only happened late 2008. And to be honest, visiting DisneyLand as a teen I was mostly bored. Not much for rides, and neither is daughter, although there are a few she wants to hit (mostly the same ones I enjoyed back then, interestingly enough). Tracked down a schedule for the live entertainment and we'll probably take a break in the middle of the day and hit the monorail to tour some of the resorts and do a monorail fly-by through Epcot, then come back for the flag retreat and do-dad around until the fireworks and kiss goodnight.
My kids are not much for rides or shows but middle daughter thinks the Buzz Lightyear ride sounds cool (you get to shoot stuff!) and there are a couple of "get up and dance" sort of parade things going on and the pirate tutorial and what not. She also collects carousel rides and will happily dawdle in a candy shop as long as the rest of us will tolerate; I'll probably retaliate by watching the glass blowing until she wants to strangle me. I think we'll have a good time despite our disinterest in rides.
Ironically, Orlando was supposed to be the "hang around the resort instead of galloping from place to place" vacation the kids have been lobbying for, so I didn't schedule anything except I wanted to see the Tiffany museum, and of course we had to hit Sea World for my second son (who is obsessed with orcas and other waterlife). Only right now we've got scheduled one day at the beach and doing stuff on the coast (eldest son thinks it'd be criminal to go to Florida and not spend a day at the beach), at least one day at Sea World (everyone wants to do that), one day shopping and checking out Downtown Disney (LEGO Imagination Center is a Must Do according to hubby and the boys, and there's a yinky dink carousel younger daughters must add to their collection, etc. etc.), a day at the Magic Kingdom with middle daughter and I, and *maybe* one day at the resort. If we're lucky and none of the kids discover something else their friends insist they ought to do. For instance, we "have" to do the biggest McDonalds play place in the world, and the one with the aquarium, and this other one, I forget. And I HATE McDonalds.
Notice how the Charles Morse Museum Tiffany collection is not on that schedule?
I didn't even know there was a Tiffany museum in Orlando.
Where is it? I'll have to check it out this weekend if we have time.
Don't worry, if you don't do the rides there are still lots of nice shows to see and very lame tame rides that don't make you sick but still are entertaining.
You'll like Sea World. It's nice although I thought San Antonio's sea world is nicer.
Your plan sounds doable. Enjoy your trip with the chillins.

The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum has the Tiffany chapel and considerable other Tiffany stuff. I was amused to discover it gets a mention in the "Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" - in the shopping chapter, as a side bar, for the giftshop. It's technically in Winter Park, about 15 minutes from downtown Orlando, but I couldn't see going to Orlando without going there. I'll probably squeeze it in on the shopping day. Thankee. Barring disaster, I expect I will. Have a good time in Orlando.
Just checked in again to Tuscany for another weekend in Orlando and the parking lot was still packed again when we came back from dinner. When is everyone going home? The weather has warmed up already. I'm hearing it might get into the 80's tomorrow so I actually might be able to try out the pool here. When I was here 2 weeks ago it was in the 40's. brrrrrrrrrrr.
They put us in the same identical unit but in building 8 this time and we still don't have a view so I guess the open season rooms get the partial views.
It's okay though since we can walk to the outlet mall really close by.
Had dinner again at the Citrus Gardens chinese restaurant across the street.
I was craving it since last time we were here. Try the schezuan chicken if you like good flavorful spicy chinese food. Yummy.
I'm definetely gonna try to fit the Tiffany museum into the plans and take my friends to North Orlando. They've never been to Altamonte and Wekiva.
Winter Park is a nice visit too. The museum is only $3 so it fits in the new "unemployment budget". My friends husband who is with us has been unemployed for more than 2 years. He was in banking and has a finance degree and hasn't been offered anymore than 24K a year working 6 days a week that is a commissioned position with Chase. He told them no thanks I'll keep my unemployment. Now he is selling on ebay. I guess this is the new economy. Everyone fend for yourselves.

So did you get there? And if so, what'd you think of it?
Just discovered there's a stained glass museum in Chicago with I think 13 Tiffany windows I want to get to but I doubt I'll do it before I get to Orlando. Something to look forward to, though.
