  • Unhappy owner deeded his week to Palm Beach County!

Taxpayers owned Boca time-share: Boca Raton beachside time-share unknowingly owned by taxpayers - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Palm Beach County taxpayers unknowingly owned a Boca Raton time-share, La Boca Casa.. The prior owner in 2002 recorded a deed to the county for a one-week stay in February.

That was a pretty slick trick to get the deed signed over to the county for back taxes. The original owner managed to get the deed out of their name and walk away apparently pretty much untouched.

If that didn't work, perhaps quit claim deeding it to a deceased resident would get things a bit confused.

Who needs to donate to charity. This is a great idea. Maybe I'll try it.

So did the taxpayers end up with the MF bill?

We should let those poor owners know. It is simple, it does not cost much, and it seems solve the problem. This is the first time I know you can signed the deed out without other side agree on it.

There is $1500 difference between the MF and dcurrent market value (valued at $2500, that is a high number). I don't think we will know who end up have to pay the bill. But I don't believe that county's taxpayers will pay for that

Maybe this would work with my condo too. I'm already upside down on it so maybe I can just deed it to my county and be done with it. What a brilliant idea. Knowing our county employees (which I am one of), no one will notice for years. That's the problem with why we are in the mess we are in, in the first place.
