Wyndham Bonnet Creek availibility

I have RCI points and have never seen this resort available. Has anyone with a points account seen it? Is it just one of those places that are really hard to get?

Bonnet Creek RCI trade-ins

Hi!
We exchanged into Bonnet Creek for the week before Labor Day last year and the staff there told us that the weeks before and after Labor Day are always the slowest of the year. We were able to trade a one bedroom in Cancun for a 2 bedroom in Bonnet Creek. It was such a good time that we already have planned another trip there for this year for 2 weeks this time after Labor Day. We own at Wyndham, so we had them call RCI to check on this time period and we were able to make the trade using just the number of points for a studio! It is a much better deal than using our Wyndham points through their internal trade system. PLUS, if we have to cancel, we can get the weeks back through RCI. One tip... look under Extra Vacations in RCI for the resort you are interested in. If it is a slow time period and there are MANY listings available at a more reasonable rate, than it is safe to assume that it is worth a try to call Wyndham and see if they will make the trade through RCI. If you already have a visible deposit in the RCI bank, then you can search that way as well. Wyndham told me that they still are having many issues with their "visible deposits" so I only use my Cancun week for doing those types of searches. Since I didn't have a week banked with RCI right now, I decided to try to search inventory through the Extra Vacations and then call Wyndham to try and make the exchange. I made sure I only had them deposit the points for a studio, even though I was trading for a one bedroom, and sure enough, it worked. If they have lots of that type of inventory for a particular week, they won't require a deposit of equal size. Hope this helps. Oh, one more tip. I am an RCI visa card holder and I use my accumulated points to pay the RCI fees. That way it isn't costly, and with the points I save and the peace of mind knowing I can cancel if need be, I come out way ahead. Good luck!!

It generally does not get deposited to Points. Most of the inventory seems to go to Weeks. You could call and see if they will give you something out of Weeks, provided it is there. What are your dates?

1st weeks in May 2011. I have rci points account. Never have seen it anytime in either weeks or points with my account.

I guess they dont make those available to points holders I dont see any of that searching the weeks inventory.

As I understand it, if a resort is in Points, you can't see Weeks inventory from an online Points search. But, *if you call*, you can sometimes get an RCI rep to look in Weeks inventory for you.

So is there availibility the first 2 weeks of May? Can I book 2 weeks? Would I pay one exchange fee or 2? Does this resort have any special fees? And if you can see May could you tell me the point value for it.

Thanks for the tip about calling, of course they make the exchange fee more if you call.

From the list above, there is not currently anything for May. In general, Wyndham deposits about 8 months in advance, so you have about four months to go. If you exchange for two weeks, you will pay two exchange fees. The Point Value should be obtainable from the online Resort Directory; easy enough for you to look up.

True, the exchange fee is higher if you call. The alternative is settling for some other resort, or waiting and taking your chances. Your choice.
