Too bad I'll never take part as I'm not going back!

You can still play. If you guess correctly, you can choose the next location. After all, it's only 10-15 minute walk to anywhere in Orlando from OLCC. Didn't you know that?

Well, I finally got to OLCC after a full day of driving. I don't recommend going from Charleston to Myrtle Beach to Orlando on the same day. It was 650 miles and 2 hours were spent fighting the bikers leaving Myrtle Beach on the last day of Bike week. Ugh.

Anyway, I'm here and I will pick up the official OLCC pedometer tomorrow and walk it off.

By the way, exchangers aren't the only ones who don't get the location choice they want to OLCC. I own two units here and I requested the North Village. They put me back into a golf villa right next door to the unit I was in last month. I guess they read my review and found out that I like it here, so they put me back. LOL.

          I've got the measurement

It took me 4 tries, but I have the distance between the front entrance of Splash Lagoon to the front entrance of River Island. I measured the distance using a GoWalking pedometer. And, the final two measurements I made were within .5% of each other.

The pedometer measures steps in increments of my step which is 30 inches. The final measurement is in 1000th of miles. It took me between 11 and 12 minutes to do the walk at a fairly leisurely pace.

Make your guess in thousandth of miles. For example: you could guess 5.365 miles. The answer is the average of the last two measurements. The winner is the person who makes a guess closest to the actual distance.

I have pictures of the start, finish, the path I took and the pedometer readings. I'll post them to the server when I get a chance.

I will send the pedometer and instructions for how to use it to the winner who will use it to measure the distance between two other points determined by the winner.

          Good luck.

It would be awful hard to pick the two locations, and know the distance between them, without having stepped it off in person, with the Official OL Pedometer.

In which case you would likely be at the Wal Mart Supercenter on HWY 27.

So you might as well bring us one of those roasted chickens, some tater salad, and a loaf of italian sesame seed bread, sliced of course, and we'll have dinner when you get back . . . about midnight.

Well, you know you can take the long way to River Island by heading the opposite way through the West Village and then re-enter by Publix and then loop around the East Village before ending up at River Island.

Anyway, JLB, I think I hear the crickets chirping on this one. It appears that only you and I are people sick enough to measure the distance between two points at a resort while on vacation. I did have fun doing it. I learned how to properly calibrate and use a pedometer.

I had lunch at Mulligan's Bar and Grill after my golf lesson today. I met a retired Chase Manhattan exec who is thinking about going back to work because he is bored silly. I should have told him about the pedometer contest. Given he was tired of the gardening work his wife had him constantly doing, he might have been up for it. He was funny. He told me he was tired of the 5 consecutive weeks of non-stop golfing down the East Coast. He was going to take the rest of the summer off and go back to work in September.

I'd be interested.. I'm just as sick and demented and the two of you..
However I'm not going to be at OLCC anytime in the next 20 years.

After a peaceful passing, let me breathe life back into this one.

What was the distance from the entrance of RI to the entrance to Splash Lagoon?

And how many did you see walking back and forth with their little ones in tow?

Finally, was I not the closest guesser, so should I not be the one to carry on this outstanding and popular tradition when we visit in December?

What is so special about OLCC?????....they give out free pedometers?

                          Jim,

You are the official winner. Since nobody else entered, I guess you could have won if you submitted a googleplex. LOL.

The answer is .543 +/- .005 miles. Your guess at .400 miles was actually very close. Congratulations. Email me your address and I will send you the pedometer for the next measurement.

There were a couple of other people walking around that area between Splash Lagoon and River Island. But, not that many.

I will post some pictures I took of that walk when I get a chance.

Gosh, Mr. Bum, with all the crap in my life I can't tell you how jacked sideways I am to have received this award.

There's so many people I need to thank, and I left my list at home (oh wait, I am at home). Anyway, you know the normal ones, all those little people, and parents and wife, the normal people without whom I could not have accomplished this.

Oh wait. No. That's my other speech, the one for the Pulitzer, for the novel I am going to write, the Oscar, for the screenplay of the novel, and the Nobel, for bringing peace to my neighborhood.

I guessed totally on my own, based on my own, non-owner, knowledge of OLCC. An owner would have known exactly that the distance is .543 miles.

You need to give the OL Pedo a catchy name, something like the Golden Fleece Award or the Fickle Finger of Fate.

Gotta go 'cuz a guy's here to estimate our storm damage.
