  • Best Orlando RCI resort

    Ok..

My bro decided to take his daughter to the Orlando area next June.

He is hoping to start the weekend of June 9th. How will the crowds be at that time?

They are looking for a nice resort.. great pool.. close to attractions and shopping.
The are going to need (2) 2bd's or possibly (1) 3bd.

They would probablyu like Orange Lake, but I'm guessing they should only request a 3bd?

    My current thinking is
    Houses at Summer Bay
    HGVC (either one)
    OLCC (3bd)

What are my chances of getting one of those for that weekend?

Anything else I should consider? I don;t want to chance getting a less than stellar room

    Thanks
    Dave

Dave: I would think the crowds will be minimal through that week. I booked a week in july at HGVC(seaworld)for my daughter.
My low HP deposits won't pull HGVC on such a short notice such as 6/9.
I thought Orange Lake was great with all there is to do there. Also, with the river country recently open, even more things to do.

    Good luck.

      THIS JUNE 2006?

      or next June 2007?

Nice list I would add Cypress Pointe Resort 2 or 3 bedrooms. Beautifully redone and central to everything. Universal from OLCC is a hike.

and yes if you get a 3 bed OLCC is a good deal.

PS it better be 2007 because there nothing at any of those resorts for this year.

OK there are only 2 bed avail at OLCC ( we all know what that probably means )
Houses already been and gone for 2007 on a bulk bank back in December. http://www.timeshareforums.com/showt...=houses+summer
It is too early for the HGVCs
There are 3 beds avail at Cypress Pointe Resort for 6/8/07

Yes, I am talking about 2007

Ok, so houses are gone... OLCC 3bd's are probably gone

Should I wait for the HGVC units? or should I book Cypress Pointe?

Also, There is Cypress Pointe and Cypress pointe grand villas.. Which do I want?

How about Sherton Vistana? Or could he get stuck in a bad section?

I'd book the Cypress Pointe Resort ID 2750, only because I don't see many 3 bedrooms at HGVC Orlando properties and I shudder to think that 3 bed Disney's show up. I've yet to see any but could be my sister's week that I look with. Vistana is an older property and has some of the same issues as OLCC.

I put some friends in CPR about 15 months ago. We stayed with them one night before our exchange into OLCC and I was VERY impressed with the 3 bed unit (which is actually a 2 bed with studio ). Plasma TV, surround sound. HUGE jacuzzi tubs in master and studio. The only "if" is: it is 3 stories with no elevator and the 2nd bedroom is quite small with a trundle bed. I have found Sunterra very amenable to meeting requests for units/buildings/etc if called 10 days prior to check-in.

              Hope this helps you.

My guess is that a 3bdrm would be very difficult to get from DVC....I don't know about SFX, however, I would guess that you could get Marriott Grand Vista 3 bdrm/3bath, from II.

I took my teenage daughter and her friends there for her birthday, and they loved it. Here's the link, if you want to take a look.

                  Dave,

I always wait until the 60-day flexchange period for II and the 45-day period for RCI. You don't need to go out further than that because you will always get OLCC. That's a great fall back position if you don't get something else you want instead. Forget about all the people warning you against the 2 bedroom units here. I am writing this message to you from a Golf Villa at OLCC and it's wonderful. The probability that your guests will get a great unit will be 90% or higher. You will find people on these boards complaining about the Marriott's and DVCs. I find those reports to be well outside of the norm and overstated and misleading.

I would use your new Club Sunterra flexchange option. You'll love that. It will be cheap, cheap, cheap.

I got the golf villa that I am in right now for less than $200 including the exchange fee. I just signed up for golf lessons starting tomorrow. And, you can sign up for unlimited golf for $299/person. So, I am going to start coming back here to OLCC just to develop a golf game. River Island is something very special. I was just there today. There is NO OTHER Water park like it at any timeshare resort I've encountered.

Also, I got the Marriott Grande Vista for June 4-11 in a 2 bedroom unit on Flexchange via WorldMark since I didn't have anything else banked. That cost me less than $300 including the exchange fee. I overpaid by $100 for not being proactive in my banking.

Let it all hang out. When you've got a ton of weeks and you travel a lot, you don't need to attempt that perfect exchange. It's much easier playing timeshare chicken when you know you will be back again soon.

Let it all hang out. You'll see. It will pay off handsomely.

                    Thanks to both of you..

Ok, I just talked to them.. They said they'd love to stay at DVC and a single 2bd would be fine. I'm not sure how likely this is.. unfortuntely.. I might not have an II 2bd deposit for a few months.

but I might be able to find someone that will trade for an RCI deposit or an HGVC.

anyway.. I would be willing to wait for that, if I have a shot at DVC?

If not I'll just book the Cypress Pointe and call it a day

                      Boca..

If it was myself. I'd normally do that.. my bro like to know when, where, how and how much. Also getting airfare for 6-8 people for the once in a lifetime Orlando vacation..
I think you are in a different position.. like you, If i as booking in So Cal. I would book whatever comes along for a great price. Then again, I'm driving and if its a bad location or experience. I'll be going back to the So Cal beaches the next month.

I dont know. It's a good option. I guess I don't have enough experience with Orlando to know the difference.

                      let me think about it.

Boca then they did some serious upgrades to those plain vanilla units! Watching any premium channels? Have they done some upgrades to the postage stamp sized bathrooms that don't even have a sink in them? Squinting at the 17 inch TVs?

Those 2 bed golf villas are not GREAT units by anybody's standards. OLCC doesn't even have pictures of the inside of those units or floorplans on their website. Clean yes. Stayable yes. Stellar? Not in this lifetime. I've had nicer in the caribbean.

The resort itself is lovely and the river park is probably wonderful but I don't choose a resort as my destination. I choose a resort for the unit and proximity to the destinations I'd like to go to.

Summer Bay would make a nice alternate. Even if you can't get a house, the 3br. lock-offs are very nice. We enjoyed our stay there last October and would certainly return again.
