Orange Lake Resorts: 120 jobs cut as company adjusts marketing strategy - OrlandoSentinel.com

120 is a pretty big reduction.. Further indication that new sales are basically dead and that they will continue to focus on high pressure upgrades of current owners.. Not sure how much longer that can last for them though- last I heard they had already pitched a high percentage of owners.. You can only go to the well so often before it goes dry!

You'd think these TS companies would offer a good deal to their current owners instead of taking owners for fools.
Now if some of my TS companies would give me a decent deal, then I'd consider a direct add-on but they won't change their ways so will keep looking resale instead.

    Whatever.

It's not a bad strategy, if you think about it. Folks who have purchased (but not rescinded) from the developer have, in many cases, already demonstrated their degree of savvy. Some learn from that experience, but many don't. As Rich mentions, though, the problem may be exhausting your market...

Edited to add: but, it appears that they are going the co-branding route by staffing new tour generation at ICH brands...not just timeshares, but cash rentals as well. Not a bad idea. For example, someone who is already tied into ICH's loyalty programs could "earn more points", etc.

An owner at Orange Lake and plan to stay a week owner, not points.
