We are looking to spend a week in south Florida and it looks like the 3 resorts in Weston have the most value for the low TP price in RCI. I can get a side "A" 1BR in either VV Bonaventure, VV Weston or Mizner for 12, 13 and 16 TPs respectively. I have a change credit for 12, so booking VV Weston (13) or Mizner (16) would require using part of another week. My husband likes tennis and it looks like Weston has the better tennis, though. What do you recommend? Will Bonaventure give us everything that we can get at Weston or Mizner?

I've only stayed in Mizner place so can't speak of the others, but if I remember correctly, you can use the facilities at the other resorts on a courtesy basis. Mizner is in a town center area and has a shopping plaza behind the resort. Weston is way in the western suburbs of Ft. Lauderdale.
It's got some nice pools but it's nowhere near the beach or anything touristy unless you're planning on visiting the Everglades or doing a day trip to Naples. It's off I-75 so you will definetely need a car to stay here as public transport would be impossible out here.
The units were nicely decorated (British colonial style) and comfortable. If you are getting only a 1 bedroom make sure you get the larger side. The full kitchen side.
Have fun.

Hopefully you will not a victim of another RCI overbooking debacle.
Those are the resorts RCI put hurricane cancellations in a couple years ago, and overbooked it.
Folks did not find out until the last minute. RCI tried to contact us while we were in Orlando to see if we would give up 2 units we had in SW FL. We were actually talking to RCI on our way from Orlando to Bonita Beach. While talking, the person at the next desk in Indy worked it out with the other party.

And I'm truly shocked how happy you seemed to be with RCI, JLB.
Sorry to see they've pissed you off beyond repair.

We did Lehigh when we were first starting in timesharing, the first few years, sorta like you now, before anyone knew there was more to it. 20 years ago, as you have pointed out several times, things were a lot different in timesharing. Remember, all anyone knew about RCI and exchanging was what a "VC" told you. No Internet and no forums.
20 years ago Lehigh was not like it is today . . . the foreclosure capital of the world . . . and other problems. It was a sweet little town 30 miles from the beach. The Admiral Lehigh Golf Club was a going concern.
Then, maybe '92 or '93, we got Lahaina Inn, so the door opened a crack.

I guess I can see how some might find it charming. It's probably not a bad place to live if you like isolation and snakes. I'm still hopeful that it will one day mature into something nice but I'm not holding my breath that it will be in my lifetime.
Lehigh was marketed heavily here in Miami to the latin community on television by a few of the developers selling it as "the promised land" that was affordable for immigrants. Low down payments and easy owner financing and you get the deed in 10 years on a land contract.
I know alot of people who bought. If I get sick of city living, I might just get me a trailer and retire over there.

Hey, caught you talking about the Ole Days.
RCI Resort ID # 0101 should be a clue.
All those folks bussed in could choose between a swamp lot or LRC.

If it was just Lehigh, it would be mind-boggling enough, but Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Rotonda, etc. is the same as Lehigh . . . thousands and thousands of vacant lots, with little pockets of attempted development.
When the bubble burst, it burst hardest right there.
My folks toured Cape Coral for a retirement home in the '70's. I have been asked to check on different people's properties when we are there.
Four college friends headed to Florida to sell land, or whatever, in 1971. I know what they went for didn't pan out, but one became president of US Homes. Another opened a little joint in Clearwater that became Hooters.

Getting back to Weston
We just got back from Weston couple weeks ago. We stayed at Bonaventure in the Sandpiper I building, 2 bedroom unit. The unit is very spacious and clean but the living room sofa was very unconfortable. Other than that everything else was fine. We had free mid-cleaning on Wednesday. The activities are the same for all three resorts and is shared. They had water aerobics class every morning at a different location. The pools are heated. If we were to stay at Bonnaventure again I would request the Heron Building. The pools (2) are nicer and has a hot tub. The laundry room is on each floor and machines looked new. There is parking under the building. The place looked empty.
We have also stayed at the Weston Resort which I think the units are nicer but not as big. Nicer pool area and more activities are here. This would be my first choice of the three but make sure it's A side with full kitchen. We took the tour presentation and he took us over to see a unit at Mizner. The unit was decorated nicely, newer but a bit smaller.

Look JLB, there's room at the Lehigh Inn.
And it's a bargain.
