Here's one to play with. Zoom in and see all the canals:

    26.931559,-82.11731 - Google Maps

Like normal with googlemap, that link is not very accurate. Look more to the left (west).

I imagine you are way ahead of me, but check subdivision plat at court house for surveyor identity... if still in business, someone may know about the stakes used.

One trick, but it may take awhile, if anyone ever cares or pays attention to lot lines... Erect what you want or plant trees. Anything you install may get claimed by the rightful owner, but meanwhile your lot is as you see it. The harm may be that a fence gets torn down or trees cut. Around this place, if we start to do, at least one neighbor points to the proper lot line or corner. We simply do as we want knowing it cannot be placed wrong.

Can you tell from the plat whether the lots are across the street from each other... like all the same size frontage?

The one item that has been problematic with the Charlotte County site is getting the plats to load.

Just tried again and can't get it.

The Charlotte County Clerk of Court's office just sent me a new portal site, which works.

Not fancy, but here is an example of a place that would make a nice winter home for a boating enthusiast. $69,900

Sorry, you can't see it . . . I gues you have to be on the agent's list. Take a look at it from above, below.

Here you can see how close it is to the Bay/Gulf:

            http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...76818&t=h&z=14

If you're interested, and want to do a property search with the county, PM me. Through that you can view all past sales, with amounts, annual assessment valuations, and annual property taxes. All that will be redone when it sells at this low price, but as values recover, you can see what to expect in the future.

Kinda funny, but this past week I had cause to try to locate the lady who was our neighbor here when we bought. She is an older lady and lost her husband not too long after we bought here. Together they used to winter in Punta Gorda.

I found out she still does, staying with friends they had/have there, and then comes back north in April.

If we woulda known that, we woulda been saying hi to her when we have been there in Januarys.

Tis a small world after all.

I just looked at the one we won the bid on homepath, and it just went to Under Contract today.

We either got it or it got sold out from under us while auction.com was jacking around.

Would you prefer a quarter, eighth, or just a week? Better hurry up and take something before those poor, freezing New Yorkers come to their senses.

Of course, there have been others who figured that out.

Congrats on your new home! Hopefully you'll have many happy new experiences and memories there with your family. PLEASE - send some sunshine this way - so tired of the snow. If I didn't have kids in school, I would move there for the winter. Hope all goes well during the closing and you don't have any surprises!

                            Thanks.

Sorta anticipating surprises. Sorta goes with the territory. We'll just deal with them.

You know what they say, "Buy where you wanna go."

It is 8 minutes from the beach, from where we've stayed the last three years, Sea Oats Beach Club and Englewood Beach and Yacht Club.

Yesterday we googlemapped a boat ride out into Lemon Bay, past Don Pedro State Park, Palm Island, Gasparilla, down to Boca Grande, and into Charlotte Bay, without ever going into the Gulf. It was a nice boat ride, and our dog loved it.

How do you plan to use, when.?

                                Snowbird extended season or more.
