An email from those in charge yesterday told us to sit tight, that they still have to clear the title. In talking with RE agents when we were there, that is what is delaying closings.

But, we're getting more excited, talking about getting down there and doodying the place up.

To make all the effort worthwhile, we're talking about being there as much as possible, maybe me getting it ready in Novembers and DW joining around Christmas, then me coming back for work March-ish and DW April-ish.

April to November, who knows. Maybe extended fam for beach outings or occasional use by virtual acquaintances, just to have someone it it. It is a small place, but with 2 bathrooms, and were are picturing sleeping 8 with sleep sofas.

We've been boat-shopping on cl, too. Any suggestions for bay/flats? I like the little center console ones, but DW wonders where folks sit.

Very cool, Jim, I add my congrats!

Looks like you could boat down to Sanibel if you care to - any idea how long that would take?

It's 25 miles m/l. But we would have to go out in the gulf . . . probably not a good idea in an 8' dinghy.

Couldn't you stay in Pine Island Sound? I'm looking at a google map, looks like you could dock yr boat up near Ding Darling.

edited to add: or even more inland, down thru Matlacha Pass Aquatic Preserve?

I we could, we would have to leave a trail of breadcrumbs.

We went boating here at home today. Very nice.

OMG, you're gonna be a part time Floridian maybe you'll like it so much that you can do it full time then you can get lots of beach front time easily on last minute exchanges like me.

Congrats, keeping fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.

Don't worry I won't come crash your pad.

How about a pontoon boat? They're lots of fun for the flats.

                          vice versa

First order of business if we get it . . . 6-foot fence around entire property line,

                          • Better make sure the Homeowner's Association allows it. You don't want to go upsetting your neighbors right off the bat.

                            • Yup, err, nope. One or the other.

That's one of the things I searched the county for, Restrictive Covenants.

                              None.

It, and others, already have fence around the backyard.

Yes, we will check everything we do.

                              &, if you only knew . . .

                              • You should also check the local municipality's codes. Just because your neighbor has a six foot fence does not mean you can put one up. Codes change and you have to follow the current ordincance.
