My sister and I and three of our boys ages 11-15 will be spending a long weekend at DisneyWorld (President's weekend), driving down on Sunday to Boca Raton to visit an elderly aunt, and then flying out of Fort Lauderdale the following afternoon. Where should we stay that last night? Boca? Fort Lauderdale? Is one better for the kids than the other? Should I pay a premium to stay by the beach or is beach access plentiful? I don't think it will really be beach weather mid february. Also, is there any place of interest to stop between Orlando and Boca Raton? TIA!!

Your kids might enjoy NASA in Cocoa Beach if you leave real early from Orlando you could do a few hours there otherwise there isn't a whole lot to see with kids on the ride down. Orlando Florida Vacation Destination - Kennedy Space Center
They're doing a Star Trek exhibit for a few months.
I'd probably stay in Ft. Lauderdale the night of arrival so you don't have to worry about traffic issues on I-95. If you want a place to stay near the beach but also near other things to do, Ft. Lauderdale beach resort might work out for you. It's near the water taxi stop and also has a nice view of the city and lots of activities for kids. It's also close to restaurants you could walk to.
They've recently remodeled and you can book it usually with a discount by calling VRI. Here is the link:

The 1 bedrooms sleep 6 with a 1/2 bath in the living area.
Have fun. I'll be in Disney that weekend too. It's gonna be crowded.
