Cocoa Beach Golf

We are staying at the Resort at Cocoa Beach in a couple weeks and the folks going with us like to play golf. Any recommendations on courses to play there that rent clubs - they don't want to bring theirs on the plane?

Years ago we had a perfectly crappy January week at Tropic Sun Towers at Ormond Beach . . . you might find a review OY. The only friendly person was our housekeeper.

We got there Sunday evening, late, to a couple of front-desk ladies smoking cigarettes and laughing at us because we were RCI.

First thing Monday morning I called the front desk about golf, because on the activities sheet there was a noon golf outing that day. There was a sister resort and another lady was activities director at both.

At first she was very rude and refused to help because we were not there for the Sunday morning welcome. Then, she grudgingly came all the way from the sister resort to sign me up.

It was very inexpensive and included lunch. The golf course was one of those that winds through a neighborhood. When I got there, there was at least 50 people in the staging area waiting to go to the first tee. The group was very old. I ate lunch then got paired with a GM dealer and his wife from Pennsylvania. They were in their 80's.

About half-way through on a Par 3 I put my tee shot 6 inches from the pin (like always ), and God unleashed the worst thunderstorm I have ever experienced on a golf course. Everyone made a dash to the clubhouse. When it stopped I went back out and finished my birdie.
