  • I didn't read it, cuz I've seen it.

There's no denying buying in Florida is problematic, and Florida has only Florida to blame for it.

    • I really have a bad feeling about this.

They could easily just keep our money and stop communicating with us.

Being far away from Florida or any of the players, and having them spread out all over the country, it would be difficult to fight.

There is great anxiety when a day goes by without hearing from one of them.

        • I'm taking bets on how they will proceed:

          ***Take or it leave it

***They'll do the repairs to make the house insurable/sellable

          ***They'll compromise

PS: The very one-sided-in-their-favor contract says the buyer accepts the house as is at the time of closing.

          • At 10:00 yesterday morning I had practically given up on this, having called and emailed ad infinitim, so I told all involved to draw up the settlement statement for a cash sale.

Then I made two more calls, one to a very helpful and knowledgable person at the insurance company and one to the agent who owns the insurance (as opposed to the person there who had been working on our appilcation).

Two hours later we had insurance (binded) and now are scheduled to close next Monday.

Note to anyone thinking about buying a Florida foreclosure. Plan on doing everything yourself. If you do not know about it, how to do it, and do it yourself, you will not get a house bought that way.

            caveat emptor

            • JLB, good luck with the closing! It was interesting hearing all about the process, but I'm anxious for the happy ending!

There are things in life that are a test of will.

I have FAXed instructions to wire our funds for closing, scheduled Monday.

DW and a couple girlfriends are on their way to take possession.

As I suspected, Auction.com is a glorified RE "agent". They are getting more commissiion than the listing agent, plus they get a buyer's premium.

                • Anyone ever close a house purchase at a hotel or a McDonald's???!!!

Why would I expect it to be anything else, like at a title company office?

It was as unprofessional and uncomfortable as one would expect. Documents (45) were screwed up and the closer was not well versed.

She even refused to give me copies of the documents.

So, I am empty-handed. We have closed, paid our money, but really have nothing to show for it. No one has even acknowledged that we have closed.

I've never felt as bad about something I should be feeling great about.

But I did get a hot fudge sundae.

So . . . anyone wanna spend some time there?

Lotsa golf. 8 minutes to the beach. Gulf access canal in the back yard.

Seriously. It would help us to help you.

                            • This would make a nice little winter home. In Olde Englewood, walk to the Bay, 5 minutes from the beach.

                              Probably get it for $40K:
